“Why are you here, Chase?”
“I think it’s more surprising that you’re here, brother.”
“What’s so strange about visiting my fiancée’s house?”
“What’s so strange about visiting a friend’s house?”
Clearly, Eric and Chase were having a conversation with smiles, but the atmosphere was extremely awkward.
Emma, sitting at the living room table, seemed to notice something and alternated her gaze between the two.
When Emma stealthily glanced at Edward, he was watching the situation with a fascinated smile.
‘That brother of mine, really.’
Rolling her eyes, Emma saw Edward shrug with a smug smile.
Feeling awkward, Emma eventually began to gather her homework.
“Emma, you haven’t finished your homework yet, have you?”
“It’s okay, Chase. I can do it alone from now on.”
“Really?”
“Then, I will finish my homework in my room.”
With a bright smile, Emma left the living room, pulling Edward’s arm along.
“Ah, why?”
“Why did you bring me out?” Edward asked sullenly, to which Emma shushed him.
“What’s the big deal about my older brother visiting our house?”
“You human. Can’t you tell by the atmosphere?”
“You, talking to your brother like that?”
“Is it going to be like this, really?”
“What’s the big deal. It’s an experience we have to go through someday.”
“Why create a situation you’re not going to resolve?”
“Resolutions are for both parties, or my sister could do it. Honestly, I want to tell both to come to their senses—but ouch!”
Before she could finish, Emma kicked Edward in the shin.
“Emma, what the hell?”
“You’re not helping, anyway.”
Emma shook her head vigorously and began to head upstairs.
Edward followed her, grumbling all the way.
(This is a time marker.)
“······.”
“······.”
One expressionless, the other smiling.
Yet another interested party, Alicia, who actually lived in the house, was nowhere to be seen in the living room where Eric and Chase were sitting facing each other.
The housekeeper of the Lancaster Earl, who was secretly watching, gently closed the door.
He was wiping the sweat off his forehead with a handkerchief when the Countess of Lancaster passed by and asked.
“What are you doing here, housekeeper?”
“Madam, the atmosphere in the living room is not normal.”
“Who’s in there?”
“Earl Russell and young master Chase are there.”
“Oh. Is that so?”
Before the housekeeper could stop her, the Countess flung open the door.
As Eric and Chase both looked up, the Countess offered a polite smile.
“Sorry, it must be awkward with just the two of you, especially without Alicia.”
“Mother.”
“Mom.”
The Countess entered with a bright smile.
“So, have the two of you talked? You’ve met before, right?”
“We went to Earl Russell’s before for introductions.”
“Moreover, we have workrelated interactions.”
“Oh, that’s good. It’s not the first time you’ve met, so it wouldn’t be too awkward.”
“Yes?”
“Alicia said she’d be home after dinner.”
“……Yes?”
(This is a time marker.)
“Alicia, thank you so much. I owe you my life.”
At Jenna’s request, Alicia was reviewing a business proposal Jenna was working on.
“No, it’s nothing. I found it interesting too. It was a pretty intriguing analysis.”
Alicia smiled as she closed the file of documents she had been sorting through.
Stretching out, Jenna gathered the pages of her proposal and set them aside.
“Ah, I can finally relax for a while.”
“So you’re going to work properly in your father’s company, Jenna?”
“Yeah, that’s the plan. It’s actually fun.”
Seeing Jenna so sincere, Alicia smiled.
The Jenna of the past was the epitome of a noble young lady. She had seemed destined to marry into a stable household and live well.
But something must have happened in the time they were apart; the Jenna she met now had a much more straightforward and uninhibited personality.
And Alicia found this image much more appealing.
“So, how about you guys? Is the Earl still head over heels for you?”
“Rumors always get exaggerated, Jenna.”
Alicia spoke decisively, her expression flustered, causing Jenna to chuckle.
However, Alicia held her teacup with both hands, her face showing concern.
Upon seeing this, Jenna eyed Alicia’s expression with curiosity.
“What’s with this reaction? Surely you’re not bored already?”
“Well—”
Hesitant, Alicia closed her mouth and downed the cooled tea before her.
“Why are you drinking the tea like it’s alcohol?”
“……”
“Is it really boredom?”
“No, it’s not.”
Though she spoke decisively, Alicia averted her eyes to the teacup she held.
Her sight landed on the nowcold tea, which was almost gone.
It wasn’t a problem that it had cooled; the problem was it hadn’t boiled to begin with.
‘I can finally get out of this contract.’
She had started to see a relationship without a contract as the norm.
She had naturally accepted this without giving it too much thought, like water soaking in.
‘It would just take a word.’
Alicia kept waiting for that moment.
Unaware, she had probably been waiting even before Edward conveyed Eric’s feelings.
My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband
This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.
The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.
They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.
In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.
When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.
She makes his life a living hell.
And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.
Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!
Intro
Dong Xia lost her memory.
Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”
Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.
…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂
*
Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.
The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.
In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.
The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.
And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.
Notes:
1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.
2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.
