“I am Eric Russell Gloucester.”
“I am Alicia Lancaster.”
There was nothing special about the banquet seats. Just like before, they greeted, announced their full names, and took their seats.
For Eric, the only odd thing was that Alicia’s face felt strangely familiar as soon as he saw her, but since they had never met before, he dismissed it as a misunderstanding.
“I apologize for having you come all the way to the Duke’s residence. It would have been nice if it was a more comfortable place.”
“It’s alright. It might even be better this way.”
“I hope so. Please feel at ease.”
Although Eric disliked the banquet seats, he was more friendly than usual because this was the last time.
It was quite curious where they managed to arrange such a meeting again, but when he first heard about it, he thought he would never attend.
However, he accepted after worrying over the serious statement that this would be the last time and it would never be brought up again in the future.
Of course, he did not fully believe his parents’ words.
Perhaps it would be quiet for a few months, and he intended to finish his duties at the capital and possibly spend some time at the border.
That was his calculation that he would be able to live comfortably for a while.
“Please, have some.”
Alicia picked up the tea cup as he offered the tea.
“It smells good.”
“It’s orange saillet tea. It’s made with tea leaves from the Saillet domain.”
“It has a slight fruity taste, despite being black tea.”
“Is that so?”
“But it seems like the taste and scent are different from an orange.”
Alicia generally enjoyed tea, but this was her first time drinking this one.
Since it came from the Duke’s domain, it probably wasn’t a tea distributed nationwide.
“It has been called that way since a long time ago, but I don’t know why. I asked when I was young, but no one gave me a proper answer.”
“I see. That’s a shame, I was curious.”
Alicia put down her tea cup.
She avoided his gaze and brushed her hair back as if she had something to say.
Seeing her act somewhat shy, Eric thought to himself.
He thought this young lady, who his mother praised until her mouth was dry, was no different from the previous ladies.
Since he had been kinder than usual, he couldn’t raise unnecessary expectations, so it was time to wrap things up.
Actually, Alicia never intended to attend this event.
She was thankful that the Duchess of Gloucester, whom she could not remember where she met, looked upon her favorably, but this was the first time someone came to her house to arrange such a meeting.
That’s probably why her mother, the Lady Lancaster, seemed unusually enthusiastic.
‘How can they say a sword suits you better than a hammer, what does that even mean.’
Alicia grumbled inwardly.
When her mother told her to look at the prospect while she was fixing a leaking warehouse.
She was just nailing some planks, but then her mother started crying, urging her to look at the prospect.
She couldn’t comprehend how those things were related, but to appease her mother she nodded her head in bewilderment, and that’s why she was sitting here now.
The good thing was that the man sitting opposite her seemed blunt, but was polite and friendly, so the setting was not too uncomfortable.
But that was all.
‘I need to finish repairing the warehouse today. I should wrap up quickly and leave.’
While thinking about the tasks she needed to finish as she brushed her hair back, Alicia lifted her head and opened her mouth.
“I have no intention of getting married.”
“Ah, I agree… Excuse me?”
He was relieved to hear that she had the same thoughts. This meant he could end this smoothly, since it was the last time.
However, he felt strangely uncomfortable because she preempted him, or perhaps because her pattern was different from usual.
Unaware of Eric’s feelings, Alicia continued to speak with a serious expression.
“I might be rude to say this after attending this setting, but I thought it would be better to tell you sooner.”
‘Yes, I used to think so too and ended the arrangement quickly.’
A woman who agreed with him for the first time in dozens of times had appeared.
But strangely, it felt somewhat unpleasant and seemed to hurt his pride.
Then he changed his mind.
Rather, it was a good thing. As she brought up the topic first, he no longer needed to hear scoldings about behaving badly.
That being said.
“I’ve heard that the Count is a good person. So I think you’ll find a more compatible relationship.”
‘Ah, we do have some differences in thoughts. …It doesn’t seem normal to think like this in the current situation, does it? Why is this, is he possibly flustered? Surely not.’
There was a moment of silence because Eric, possibly really flustered, made no sound.
Feeling the silence becoming awkward, Alicia opened her mouth, wishing to leave the place quickly.
“Then, I will take my leave now.”
“Huh? Oh, yes.”
Eric came to his senses and stood up to see her off.
But Alicia, feeling uncomfortable, laughed awkwardly and declined.
“I’m fine without being seen off. So.”
My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband
This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.
The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.
They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.
In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.
When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.
She makes his life a living hell.
And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.
Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!
Intro
Dong Xia lost her memory.
Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”
Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.
…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂
*
Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.
The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.
In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.
The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.
And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.
Notes:
1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.
2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.
