“It’ll get colder when night falls.”
Alicia glanced outside and noticed the sun beginning to set.
She needed to warm the place up to keep the body temperature from dropping any further; a fire was essential.
“Eric mentioned monsters appearing, but I haven’t seen any here. Perhaps they can’t come inside.”
Even if monsters were present, Alicia’s worries wouldn’t be brief.
Right now, the priority was to save Eric. If necessary, she’d use herself as bait to lure the monsters.
“With Eric’s sword, we can hold them off for a short time. At least until he regains consciousness, we should be able to manage.”
She felt uneasy deep down, but pushed the feeling away with these thoughts.
Alicia carefully opened the door, went outside, and brought in some dry wood.
Luckily, she found a flintstone next to the broken fireplace where she had first awakened.
She placed the wood she’d gathered near Eric and lit a fire.
Soon, a warm atmosphere began to fill the space.
“He’s still pale.”
She touched Eric’s face and neck; they were still cold.
“What to do.”
She started boiling water in the clay jar she’d used earlier to fetch water.
Wiping his body with a hot wet towel seemed like a good idea.
(This is a time separator.)
“It’s warm.”
Just moments ago, his body had been shivering with cold, but now warmth gradually spread, and Eric’s face eased.
His body still felt heavy, making movement seem impossible, but as his body temperature rose, Eric’s eyes fluttered open a bit.
“!”
When Eric opened his eyes, the sight of Alicia’s face close to him felt breathtaking.
Not just that.
“Why am I undressed and doing this with Alicia?”
He felt dazed, either not fully awake or still dreaming.
He tried to think rationally.
The answer came more easily than expected.
“Ah, it’s a dream.”
This couldn’t be real.
In a place where monsters roamed, it was impossible for them to be in such a situation.
Reality was improbable.
Thinking so, his mind strangely calmed.
Or so he thought.
Alicia, staring down at him, filled his vision and overheated his body to the point that calmness was out of reach.
“It’s a dream.”
Thinking this, there was nothing to hold back.
So, Eric pressed his lips onto Alicia’s.
His mouth closed in on hers, pulling away only to push back between her slightly parted lips.
Each entwined breath made his body hotter.
“Not enough.”
Eric pulled Alicia closer, gripping her more tightly as he squeezed her soft flesh within his arms.
“Just a bit more.”
Eric’s hand cautiously brushed Alicia’s flawless back.
The skin felt so soft, better than the finest silk, lifting his spirits.
Just moments before, he had felt drained, near death; now tension surged through his body, reminding him he was alive.
But the pain from the monster attack and the rising heat made his head spin and his vision blur.
Alicia’s form began to fade.
Desperation filled him as Eric tightened his grip on her.
Don’t go.
The smooth, warm skin and the soft, pliable lips he’d been touching started to fade.
Don’t go.
Despite Eric’s outcry, his vision and senses faded, and then vanished altogether.
(This is a time separator.)
The next day, Eric squinted as he opened his eyes.
The sunlight pouring in from all sides was dazzling.
For a brief moment, the sunlight pouring down from the ceiling seemed supernaturally wondrous, as if he’d woken up in heaven.
Whether he was still sleepy or not, he stared blankly for a while before finally snapping to his senses.
Eric shifted to rise from his seat, but a sharp pain prompted an involuntary groan.
“Ugh.”
Eric sat up and touched the wounded area.
Although blood had soaked through, it was well wrapped with white cloth.
‘Has the bleeding stopped? I should be able to move like this.’
Still sitting, Eric slowly looked around.
Next to him were not only logs but also the club Alicia had been carrying yesterday.
“Are you awake?”
Eric immediately turned his head toward the source of the voice.
As their eyes met, Alicia entered with a relieved smile, holding a jar of water in one hand and Eric’s sword in the other.
Eric quickly scanned Alicia from head to toe.
Her steps were slower than usual, but thankfully, she didn’t appear injured.
Then Eric saw his own sword that Alicia was holding and smiled.
“A sword is better than a club, isn’t it?”
“Ah.”
Alicia, too, smiled at the sword she was carrying.
She then approached Eric, handed him his sword, and began examining his wound.
“Did you need to use it?”
“No, no monsters appeared.”
“That’s good. Was it too heavy to carry?”
“It was heavy, but manageable.”
“It seems like I should gift you a sword rather than anything else.”
Eric said, smiling.
“A rusted statue sword, a club, and now my own sword. You definitely need a sword.”
“Hmm. Now that I think about it, you’re right.”
“Let’s go make one when we get out of here.”
“Sure.”
While talking, Alicia wiped Eric’s forehead with a cloth dampened in water.
“?”
“You had a fever yesterday.”
“Ah, that explains why I felt warm yesterday…”
Suddenly, yesterday’s dream flashed across Eric’s mind.
My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband
This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.
The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.
They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.
In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.
When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.
She makes his life a living hell.
And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.
Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!
Intro
Dong Xia lost her memory.
Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”
Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.
…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂
*
Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.
The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.
In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.
The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.
And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.
Notes:
1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.
