Was it strange to think Alicia’s wet hair looked somewhat seductive?

He noticed the droplet of water that was trickling down from her hair to her neck and gently wiped it away with his finger.

At that touch, Alicia turned her head and their eyes met.

“?”

“I was wiping it for you.”

Alicia smiled.

She then reached out to tidy Eric’s wet, disheveled hair.

It had always felt good whenever her slender fingers touched his hair.

Therefore, Eric also smiled.

“It doesn’t seem like the rain is going to stop.”

“Indeed. It’s raining even more now.”

“It seems we won’t be able to watch the fireworks.”

“That seems likely.”

Store employees began hurriedly gathering the tables and chairs they had placed outside.

Some stores started closing their doors.

Being in the square, it appeared they thought they wouldn’t be able to do business anymore due to the rain.

Facing the pouring rain, Eric opened his mouth.

“This won’t do. I’ll call for a carriage.”

“Let’s go together.”

“Stay here. If we both get wet, you’ll catch a cold.”

“But—”

“It’s okay. I’ll be back soon, so don’t go anywhere. Don’t follow strangers.”

“Are you treating me like a child?”

At Alicia’s incredulous expression, Eric chuckled mischievously.

“Exactly. I don’t feel at ease leaving you alone.”

“Come on, go quickly.”

“Alright.”

Heeding Alicia’s nagging, Eric plunged into the rain.

After taking a few steps, Eric halted midway and turned around.

Their eyes met, and Alicia hurried him with a worried look.

“You’ll get even more wet. Go quickly.”

“I’m already wet, so it’s fine.”

Taking a few steps backward while maintaining eye contact with Alicia, Eric turned around and ran off.

(This is a time separator.)

Shortly after, a carriage stopped at the corner of the street where the two had been standing. Eric descended from the carriage holding a robe for Alicia.

“What the—The rain has almost stopped?”

Eric estimated the falling rain with his palm while looking up at the sky.

The raindrops had weakened considerably, although the sun was still absent.

“Was it really a shower?”

Muttering, Eric turned the corner.

“Alicia?”

Where Alicia should have been, there was no one.

He surveyed the inside of the store through the glass window but saw no sign of her there either.

He opened the door and loudly asked the store clerk.

“Did you see the woman who was standing out here?”

“Eh? She left a while ago.”

“She left? Where to?”

“She went with you.”

“What?”

His heart sank.

“Went with who?”
“What are you talking about? You brought her here earlier.”

“Which way? Did you see?”

“To the left.”

Eric hastily closed the door and ran to the left.

The shops that were about to close their doors due to the rain stopped and started to open them again.

Some places even began to set up tables outside again.

However, Alicia was nowhere to be found.

He grabbed people and asked, but nobody had seen her.

“Alicia!”

He yelled loudly, but the passing people only looked at him strangely, without any response.

His mind went blank and he looked around, but Alicia was still nowhere to be found.

(This is a time separator.)

“Ah, Captain, I was just about to contact you.”

An officer rushed towards Eric, who had just entered the police station.

“Contact? What’s going on?”

“Yes, about the person we arrested in the square.”

“Do you know who it is?”

“He doesn’t remember being there at all.”

“What?”

“He’s a scam artist who usually operates in back alleys; never done any puppet shows, and you don’t remember him either.”

“You’re sure?”

“Yes, we’ve even tried force, but to no avail. It seems certain.”

Something felt off.

Eric scowled and ruffled his hair.

“Alright, good job.”

“Thank you, sir. So, what should we do now?”

“Keep him detained for now.”

“Understood.”

“And—”

Eric had planned to release the police force into the square to look for Alicia.

Just as he was about to issue the order, someone called for him.

“Uh, Captain Russell.”

“?”

“Someone rushed to give this to you, sir.”

An officer handed him a letter.

It was a plain white envelope without any seal or sender’s information.

Curious, he opened it.

To Lord Eric Russell,

Your fiancée is with me.

She seems a bit bored without you, so I have no choice but to invite you as well. Please come.

The location is an abandoned temple north of the capital.

And you know the drill: threats and coercion—come alone.

P.S.: It’s a rather dangerous place. We’re not responsible if you get hurt or die.

Eric crumpled the letter.

A chill spread across Eric’s face, startling the officer beside him, who took a step back.

“Who gave you this?”

“Sorry?”

“Who gave you this letter?”

“What letter are you talking about?”

Male lead is reincarnated to save his wife

I’ve also read this one twice already. The female lead is kinda soft and gets embarrassed easily—not really my type, but the plot is definitely worth reading. Hurry up and read it, y’all!

Intro

When Shen Yuan encountered Su Jin again in his previous life, she had already become the Prime Minister of the current dynasty. As for him, the former top young master of the capital, he had long since fallen into the abyss, becoming a singer on a pleasure boat.

After a song ended, he was redeemed and sent to the Su Residence.

Su Jin respected and cherished him, gave him a roof over his head, and bestowed him with warmth. Shen Yuan fell deeper and deeper, but before he could express his feelings, Su Jin passed away.

Shen Yuan died to follow her in death, but instead, he returned to when he was fifteen years old.

At that time, he was not yet engaged, and Su Jin was just a poor scholar.

Shen Yuan gritted his teeth, casting aside all his pride, and thought of ways to coax and entice her every day.

The colder and more indifferent Su Jin was towards him, the more proactive Shen Yuan became.

He was not afraid of being mocked by the world, only wanting to marry his Wife-master early, to hold her hand and never let go for a lifetime.

[Note: This story will not specifically point out the male lead’s reincarnation time point; it’s all in the details. Whenever you feel that the male lead is acting strangely, he has most likely been reincarnated.]
