The moving brush slowly came to a halt around the time Aden’s head tilted slightly.

Ludmila, supporting Aden’s head with her hand, lowered her gaze and silently stared at him.

Within the shadow cast through her, she quietly exhaled at the sight of Aden sleeping peacefully.

Already the second time. Aden had once again revealed his careless, vulnerable side—and it hadn’t even taken long. Merely a few days.

The flawless man who once approached her with lightness, and at other times with solemn gravity, was now driving himself toward the edge of a cliff within this brief span.

And the more exposed his vulnerabilities became, the more they would inevitably become the weakness that led him to death.

Moonlight gradually dimmed—it seemed clouds were drifting across the moon.

Ludmila moved her brush again and wordlessly gazed at the landscape painted within the picture.

She hadn’t drawn any people into this painting. No—she couldn’t bring herself to.

Surely, if she drew one person, she’d end up drawing another next. Perhaps she might even add a small third figure between them.

A willow tree planted by the riverbank, white plum blossoms settled beside it, a villa built facing the flowing river. Three people standing between them, gazing upon this peaceful night scene.

When her thoughts reached that point, Ludmila wondered what it would be like to have a child with Aden.

Would it be a daughter or a son?

If a boy, she hoped he’d grow into a strong young man like Aden, one who could lead the Khan tribe. Even if a girl, she wished the child would take after him.

Unlike her—fragile and timid—she wanted the child to be brave enough to sacrifice their life until the very last breath.
