Kedilen rolled his eyes, scanning the area around him, then clicked his tongue softly at the maid beside him who was staring right at him.

He measured the distance between himself and Aden with his eyes, then shifted his gaze back to the maid.

After confirming the name written on her name tag, he waved his hand dismissively.

Kedilen watched the maid retreat with a sigh of relief, then turned his eyes toward Aden, who had stopped a few steps away.

Aden, who had also been watching the maid’s retreating back, looked back at Kedilen just as a muffled chuckle reached his ears.

“So that’s your taste, is it? Then again, I suppose I forgot that even a duke is still a man.”

At the flippant provocation, Aden’s lips twisted into a smooth, mocking smirk.

He tugged at his uncomfortable cuffs, loosening them, then shoved his hands into his trouser pockets.

Leaning slightly on one leg, he tilted his head askew.

Just then, a gust of wind made the torches on the stone steps flicker. A slanted sneer settled across his face, warmed by the torchlight’s heat.

“Just because a marquis lives that way doesn’t mean everyone enjoys such things. Wouldn’t it be wiser to keep those sordid tastes to yourself?”

With a voice dripping in mockery, Aden closed the gap between them and looked down.

Feeling the height difference as Aden drew near, Kedilen bit his lip and stepped back.

“Besides, with rumors already swirling about you, if you act like this on top of it all, what will others think? Don’t you agree?”
