Aden pulled on the reins of his horse, which had been galloping across the pasture, and let out a long sigh.

Just then, a strong gust of wind blew over the distant western mountains, chilling the beads of sweat gathered on his forehead.

“Come on, ride with me a bit.”

Benjamin, struggling to catch up on his own exhausted horse, panted softly as he muttered a quiet reproach behind Aden.

Benjamin assumed Aden was still holding onto what had happened earlier.

Otherwise, there’d be no reason for him to suddenly drag him out and gallop away at such a reckless pace.

Panting heavily, Benjamin drew up beside Aden and wiped the sweat streaming down his head with a handkerchief.

He, too, seemed to enjoy the wind blowing in; after silently gazing toward the western peaks, he subtly rolled his eyes.

For a fleeting moment, the image of his old friend staring blankly into the distance overlapped with the earlier scene of him spoon-feeding Ludmila.

Remembering that absurd moment, a crooked smile tugged at his lips. Who would’ve thought he’d be pulling such a brazen stunt right here.

“When did you come back?”

Aden, who had been silently gazing in the direction the wind blew from, slowly turned his eyes toward Benjamin at the quiet question.

Benjamin gave a light shrug of his shoulders and likewise shifted his gaze forward.

“This morning. I had some business back at the main house and went to check in briefly.”

“Does Viscount Numer still not approve of his grandson marrying into the imperial nobility? He wouldn’t bother summoning you back to the main house during such a critical period otherwise.”
