Though the long windows surrounding the building were uniformly veiled by thick satin curtains, a massive crystal chandelier hanging from the second-floor balcony ceiling glittered enticingly at passersby.

The head guard deliberately avoided the haughty yet icy gaze of the man well over six feet tall as he replied.

Having worked at this establishment for over seven years, the head guard could instantly discern who belonged on the second floor and who did not—even without checking their credentials.

Merely by observing the gait of the man escorting the petite noblewoman, he sensed this was no ordinary individual.

He had already prepared to escort them directly to the second floor—yet unexpectedly, the identification presented was that of a lower noble. Upon hearing the guard’s explanation, Emperor Maxwell nodded obediently and entered the store with Arabella.

Just as the guard had said, the first floor bustled with wealthy merchants, commoners, and lower nobles, while four or five men in the same uniform as the entrance guards stood watch at the staircase leading to the second floor.
