In response, Lilith gave a playful shrug and a knowing smile. I had expected Freyrie to be nervous or to greet her deliberately upon recognizing her, but nothing of the sort happened—it was in stark contrast to how she behaved around Sasha.

Perhaps Freyrie, unlike Sasha, had realized there was nothing to gain from provoking Lilith and had wisely chosen to feign ignorance. If so, then Lilith was handling the situation intelligently, and Freyrie stood quietly by, offering only a faint, gentle smile.

Judging by her lack of flinching or any sign of inner turmoil, this girl was clearly a masterful actress as well.

Sasha had followed Freyrie almost blindly, but this one—beneath her angelic exterior—burned with vengeance, so I could easily imagine how furiously she must be seething inside at the sight of Lilith.

“If there’s anything I can do for you, please don’t hesitate to let me know! I’m always ready!”

Meanwhile, Lilith struck a confident pose with a mischievous grin.

She boldly struck her chest with one hand, exuding self-assurance, and I shook my head, muttering that she was incorrigible—yet I decided that whenever the children overwhelmed me or became too much trouble, I’d simply let them rest as they pleased. After all, one must always keep an emergency option at hand.

Thud, thud—.

“Good afternoon, Lady Lilith.”

Just as our idle chatter was about to wrap up, Carlisle hurried over and bowed respectfully to Lilith. It was rare for this usually composed boy—who always watched over everyone quietly from the back—to step forward ahead of others and initiate conversation, so all eyes naturally turned toward him.

What was this look of excitement and joy on his face? Puzzled, I glanced sideways and saw Freyrie staring fixedly at Carlisle, her gaze filled with an emotion so complex that I couldn’t help but wonder what was going on.

“Pleasure to see you.”

Regardless, Lilith didn’t spare me even a glance and happily chatted away with Carlisle.

Perhaps she felt something akin to what I’d once felt upon seeing young Jeff, whose skills had improved dramatically—she beamed down at Carlisle with a proud, affectionate smile, eyes crinkling warmly.
