“More importantly, you must choose your personal maid carefully. She’ll become your eyes and ears.”

I wanted to snap back, “Do you think I don’t know that?” but restrained myself—after all, born as a Crown Princess, I couldn’t speak so impetuously.

I couldn’t reveal the whole truth, and since Jeff didn’t understand my intentions, his concern was only natural. So I decided to calmly listen and skillfully justify my choice with the reasoning I’d hastily concocted moments ago.

“That means your personal maid will hold more authority than the maids currently attending you.”

Jeff added that she must be someone I could trust and who remained loyal to me, continuing with a face full of worry.

“Above all, not everyone from even loyalist noble houses truly follows you.”

Indeed, though the Fleur and Vladimir houses stood closest to the imperial family, sheltered beneath their devoted shadows, every noble had sworn loyalty to the throne outwardly and fulfilled their duties.
