“Has this kid grown this much already?”

Come to think of it, when had he appeared without making a sound? I thought he’d gone far away—had he been deliberately lingering nearby all along? Even if that were true, I should’ve heard him running over, yet I hadn’t.

Anyway, watching him effortlessly reach the book for me—like an arrow shot to aid my struggle as someone still so short—I couldn’t help but feel slightly envious inwardly at his long, graceful arms.

After all, the thought had just flickered through my mind: Why am I still stuck as a shrimp even after seven years?

Meanwhile, Carlisle gave a faint smile and gently stroked the book’s cover. Unlike Ronowe, he wasn’t the excitable type, yet he clearly enjoyed encountering a rare volume—either long out of print or nearly lost to wars, with only a few copies remaining.

“More importantly, Your Highness truly has excellent taste in books. With a title like ‘Outstanding Tactics,’ it must be filled with all sorts of tactical knowledge, right?”

“Yeah. Since I’m destined to become Empress, I figured it’d be good to look it over.”

My late father had already unified several kingdoms through conquest to form the Empire, so I already knew all this tactical knowledge. I’d only been drawn by a familiar title, but I couldn’t very well reveal that—so I wrapped it in a plausible excuse to make it sound reasonable.

“Besides, books like this are actually fun.”
