It was already strange enough that Lilith had barged right into my bedroom—not even stopping at the door or sending someone to announce she’d wait inside—and sat there, legs crossed, as if she owned the place. But what really made my head throb was how she kept speaking in vague, abstract terms instead of getting to the point like the Messenger of God—or God Himself—ought to.

Lilith had never shown any interest in romance or marriage, so it wasn’t as if she’d been heartbroken and lost her mind from the shock. Then why had she entered the Crown Princess’s bedroom without permission and even offered tea as if hosting a guest?

“And before long, spring will come.”

Still not done, huh? Feeling she’d just keep rambling if I let her, I decided to cut in.

Normally, interrupting someone mid-sentence is impolite, and anyone living a normal life might bring up something as harmless as the changing seasons. I’m not an idiot—I understand that much.

But Lilith was different.

She never made small talk like this. She was the type who’d wear a sly smile and throw herself silently into her duties until the day she’d be buried in the Order. She wasn’t even the quiet sort; she was cheerful and friendly, wonderfully sociable, yet somehow remained a diligent, hardworking prankster who never went out for fun—more like a mischievous workaholic, really.

“Snow will fall when winter comes—that’s just how it is.”

Precisely because she’d suddenly started talking so sentimentally about the obvious, it felt artificial, like an overacted classical play—so I shut her down with a blunt, realistic reply to prevent her from continuing.

I also suspected she might be dragging things out deliberately, waiting for the perfect moment to reveal her real hand, so I swiftly seized control of the conversation to push her toward the main point.

“It feels odd hearing you recite such obvious truths like a poet all of a sudden.”

I shrugged and raised one eyebrow. At that, Lilith turned her gaze from the window and looked straight at me. I’d half-worried her eyes might have gone strange from playing the artist, but they were clear and bright—exactly as usual.

“Haha, when I used to travel, I often talked like this with my friends.”

Not long after, Lilith let out a soft laugh. From that expression, I faintly sensed she’d been gazing at me with such tenderness because she missed those friends from her traveling days.

“So even you—who always claims the present matters most and acts so perfectly content—still feel that longing, so long as you haven’t carved your emotions out entirely.”

After Being Cheated On, She Picked Up a Treasure (Female-dominant)

One-line summary: The husband I married on a whim had been secretly in love with me for a long time.

On the day when Jun Shao finally obtained the imperial decree for her marriage, Lan Qu, the person she had admired for six years, defied the decree and ran away.

Her gentleness and devotion, her promise of a lifetime together, were all disregarded by him. Instead, he dreamed of entering the palace to serve the Emperor’s sister as a sixth-rank attendant.

News of this incident spread throughout the capital, and the alleys in front of and behind the Lan mansion were crowded with people who came to watch the commotion.

Jun Shao should have been embarrassed and angry.

But someone stepped in to protect her dignity.

The figure was in a miserable state, yet still possessed an undeniable elegance and handsomeness.

The young lord struggled to climb the wall of the Lan mansion and shouted to her, “If he won’t marry you, I will!”

So, Jun Shao took advantage of the situation and married the person.

She thought the young lord did it to save the Lan family from the crime of defying the imperial decree, but never imagined that from beginning to end, what he coveted was her.

*

After the wedding, Jun Shao felt like she was living in a dream.

Her Wife-master was as beautiful as a fairy in a painting, skilled in the six arts, well-versed in poetry and literature, capable of being gentle and attentive, and also grand and dignified. Most importantly, she was the only one in his heart and eyes.

Jun Shao didn’t know how Lan Shiwu, as a illegitimate son without a father and blessed with beauty, had managed to preserve his purity, recklessly escape, and use his last ounce of strength to ruin his own reputation, all because of his love for her, just to stand before her.

She could only see him gazing at her with eyes full of love, and when she bestowed a name upon him, his eyes shone like stars.

“You have come to me like a weary bird perching on a branch. I shall call you A Qi.”
