Not cowering for the first time, Yuan spoke to her uncle.

“Aren’t you curious why Louise died?”

As soon as Louise’s name was mentioned, her uncle’s greasy brow furrowed deeply.

“Is that the issue now? Your sister was terminally ill anyway. It wasn’t strange for her to die at any time. But we are not. The living must live!”

“That is the problem.”

“What?!”

“Even now, to this moment, I don’t know how Louise lived, what her last moments were like. That nobody in the Peliesse family is curious about this…”

Yuan whispered in a weary voice.

“That’s the problem.”

Count Peliesse stood dumbfounded, then let go of Yuan’s arm.

Lost in disappointment, instead of Yuan, Count Peliesse pleaded with Count Compagni, who was listening intently.

“Count Compagni! This child is crucial! She is like a successor, the only link between my late brother and me! My niece must continue the family business with me! Isn’t this for the good of Peliesse? Doesn’t Peliesse’s success lead to the happiness of the entire country? As someone serving the same prince, please understand our situation, please!”

Count Compagni silently offered his arm to Yuan.

Disgusted by Count Peliesse’s lies and fake loyalty to the first prince, he couldn’t bear to watch any longer.

Accusations poured on Yuan, who no longer made eye contact and turned her back.

“This ungrateful, vengeful girl!”

Her uncle’s voice tore through the cold air.

The snow that had piled up at their feet had finally stopped.

Count Compagni hurriedly took Yuan into the carriage, fearing she might change her mind.

While the knights quickly rearranged the procession, the Peliesse people rigidly came out of the mansion to watch.

Each had a face like looking at a mortal enemy.

Countess Peliesse, startled by the size of the knights waiting outside, paused for a moment before getting irritated at the sight of Yuan’s few belongings being carried by a servant.

And amidst her sharp voice, Regina, hidden behind her brother, muttered low curses.

It was a perfect harmony of madness.

“Such a crazy house.”

Count Compagni frowned at the unrelenting insults and checked Yuan, who was staring out the carriage window without drawing the curtains. Was she used to this? He noticed her pale white hand gripping the hem of her dress, trembling.

Count Compagni closed the carriage door as if to shut out the escalating insults, pretending not to notice her flinching shoulders and opened a newspaper he had no intention of reading.

Count Peliesse had deceived the royal family.

Normally, if the royal family wanted to arrange a marriage with a family, all eligible candidates should be presented.

He specifically asked for “the daughter of the former Count Peliesse,” and they deceitfully presented a frail niece.

Refusing to send her away indicates she might be the girl close to the secret of Peliesse that the first prince has been fervently searching for.

Count Compagni had just heard the desperate pleas not to take her away as she is vital to the family business, but…

Count Compagni’s eyes narrowed.

“The family business? She looks even weaker than her sister.”

The Count glanced over the newspaper at Yuan’s face, lost in thought.
She didn’t compare to the meticulously dressed, perfume-scented noble ladies of the capital, but there was an undeniable beauty that couldn’t be hidden by her tired expression and disheveled hair.

Yuan Peliesse had a pale, slender face; raven-black hair like crow feathers; a prominent forehead; neatly shaped eyebrows; and large black eyes under long lashes. She resembled a painting by a renowned artist, rendered in black and white.

‘She is beautiful.’

The hastily worn fur cloak resembled that of a maid, and the shoes on her neatly arranged feet, though of high quality, were worn. Still, she exuded an aristocratic aura, evident despite her worn appearance.

It was clear that she had lived a neglected life in this household.

Her skin was rough from lack of care, and her pretty, full lips, positioned just below her small nose, were dry and chapped.

Her large, deep black eyes, no matter how calm she tried to appear, looked like they were on the verge of bursting into tears at any moment.

How could such a frail-looking girl have helped with the family’s business?

What great secret could there be that made the first prince suddenly so persistent about Peliesse a year ago?

His thoughts eventually led to one conclusion:

‘The fault lies with Count Peliesse. Well, it seems like things have been roughly settled, so I might as well follow orders.’

After quickly skimming through an article in the newspaper, Count Compagni heard that the preparations to depart were complete.

It was time to leave this senseless household.

Yuan endured Count Compagni’s gaze, wishing she could cover her ears.

She wanted to ask why he was staring, but feared if she spoke too soon, he might change his mind and leave her behind.

My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband

This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.

The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.

They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.

In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.

When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.

She makes his life a living hell.

And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.

Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!

Intro

Dong Xia lost her memory.

Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”

Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.

…

The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.

She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.

Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.

No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!

Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂

*

Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.

The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.

In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.

The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.

And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.

Notes:

1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.

2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.
