As Yu-an’s black eyes started to quiver slightly, Regina felt emboldened.

“Think you’re the only orphan without parents? The only one living without a room? You clung to our house because you feared losing the mansion where you lived with your parents. You depended on your sister Louise instead of your parents. Cunning. Always finding a way to survive. Flirting with our father to hang around his study. Depending on Louise when lonely. What were you lacking?”

Regina stepped forward towards Yu-an, whose lips were tightly closed. Their faces were so close they could almost touch.

“After your sister died and you lost your place, you wanted to replace everything, didn’t you?”

“No. It’s not like that.”

“Replacing your sister with a husband. The Peliese mansion with this black mansion. You just want to settle down.”

Yu-an’s eyes rapidly reddened.

Regina’s smile widened even more.

“You’re like that. A rotten crow’s nature. Cunning like a bat. Whatever you stole, stop clinging desperately and give it up already. You’re making my father suffer every day.”

“…”

“You can replace everything, so you don’t care. You left our house because we tormented you? No! You just want to settle down in another place, selling yourself to the man who might have killed Louise!”

“!”

The man who might have killed Louise.

That sentence darkened Yu-an’s heart.

Regina didn’t miss that reaction.

“Feel good about yourself, don’t you? You think I don’t know?”

Regina, staring directly into Yu-an’s sunken eyes, pressed her face closer, finding guilt blooming beneath the black eyes.

“Louise’s death? You didn’t shed a single tear for her, Yu-an Peliese, did you?”

As their similar noses nearly touched, Regina spoke upon discovering the guilt rising beneath those black eyes.

“In the end, it’s all about you, Yu-an Peliese. Whether it’s your family or ours, or Louise!”

Finally, Regina, who had stiffened Yu-an with her words, briskly moved away, opening her fan with a swish and covering her face.

Behind the fan, her bright green eyes shifted towards the exiled prince Clad Euphris in the distance.

“Half meets half. A perfect match indeed.”
Yu-an clenched her fists tightly as she saw Clad through Regina’s thick red hair.

Regina shrugged her shoulders mockingly behind her fan.

“You’re also hiding dark intentions beneath that façade of being nice, aren’t you? Your husband is no different. What good is his appearance if he’s hiding a grotesque and repulsive face under that mask? Everyone knows that. Plus, he’s a deposed prince without any inheritance rights, title-less, trapped here, living a life that’s nothing but a spectacle for others.”

Regina believed the man she would have in the future was far better than the man Yu-an had.

At least Dreikop Treloni, whom she was to marry, would inherit a domain and a title.

At least he wouldn’t need to wear a mask to a party because of a disfigured face.

“A perfect pair, you two. Keep up the good work. Whether you sell yourself to that monster or not, it doesn’t concern me. Just…”

Snap!

Regina sharply closed her fluttering fan with a clap, leaning towards Yu-an who was enduring the insults with all her strength.

“I’m warning you. You better respond to father’s letters soon. If my family suffers any more because of you, I won’t stay quiet. You’re not even worthy of the nickname ‘crow’ anymore. You’re more like a despicable bat.”

Regina then harshly patted Yu-an’s shoulder as if erasing any conversation that had taken place and returned to her family’s table.

Yu-an, still feeling the pain on her shoulder, gazed at the piercing stares around her.

Her uncle’s flushed face was apparent.

A face filled with the expectation that his daughter might have accomplished something.

Yu-an grimaced at the sight of that loathsome face.

Xin Jiao Zhou is the leader of the world’s premier sect. She has just experienced betrayal from all sides, was poisoned in an assassination attempt, and faced death squad attacks while the poison was taking effect. After finally clearing out the scum from her sect, she was drugged again while trying to detoxify.

After waking up from a night of unconsciousness, she gained a “beautiful and kind-hearted” husband.

Xin Jiao Zhou: “???”

He fell ill.

She came to see him, bringing breakfast.

As she put down the breakfast and was about to leave, his hand slipped while holding the spoon. “Clank!”

She turned around upon hearing the noise.

He looked up at her, his eyebrows drooping: “My hand… has no strength.”

“Shall I… feed you?” she asked tentatively.

He opened his mouth cheerfully: “Ah—”

Thinking she was drowning, he jumped in without hesitation to save her, but nearly drowned himself. In the end, it was she who swam over to rescue him, giving him air underwater.

After emerging from the water, his ear tips turned red. He lightly brushed his cheek, tucking his sideburns behind his ear, revealing delicate, pink-tinged ear tips. He lowered his gaze, too embarrassed to look at her.

Xin Jiao Zhou: He’s truly beautiful, kind-hearted, and adorable.

A certain someone when disciplining subordinates behind the scenes: “If they don’t obey, just kill them.”

What’s that? She might already have someone she cares about in her heart? A certain someone: Find out who it is, kill them, and then there won’t be anyone.

What? She met a man by the riverside? What? That man even hurt her? A certain someone: Whichever hand hurt her, chop off his entire arm.
