Just two days ago, he had scoffed at the suggestion of putting a warm blanket or a small brazier in the carriage. And just yesterday, the servants’ jokes about needing a coffin had reached his chamber.

“I’m not sure if she’s still alive, Your Highness. The maids are too scared to check, fearing they might find a corpse…”

Clade’s eyebrow shot up at the implication that this was no longer the servants’ concern.

If the woman was still alive, the solution was simple. Either invite the foolishly stubborn woman into the mansion and provide warmth, or add something warm to that pathetic carriage. Either way, she would die – in the mansion or from exhaustion protesting in the carriage.

Since both were undesirable, there was only one choice.

Clade knew exactly how to make this uninvited guest flee.

A strategy that had never failed, not even once.

After a lengthy silence, Clade’s parched lips parted.

“Summon all the servants to my room. Ensure not even a mouse can move around the mansion or the entrance.”

Gustav, irritated by Clade’s expression, quietly bowed his head.

Louise’s short lifespan was known. Despite over ten years of convalescence in the south from childhood, and despite all sorts of medicines and enduring the lab work in the laboratory with Yu-An, Louise’s illness remained incurable.

Sudden nosebleeds, frequent coughing up blood if strained, and collapsing even while running healthily – it was different from mere physical frailty caused by thin bones and lack of muscle. There was no outward difference from normal people.

Her father had said it was a hereditary disease of the Euphris family.

A disease that every generation inevitably afflicted one or two with.

A time-limited illness leading to an early demise.

Fortunately, her father’s generation was spared, but Louise was not so lucky.

Yu-An stayed in the Euphris mansion, enduring her uncle’s torment, not just because of her lifelong dream of a home and family.

It was the hope that helping with the numerous experiments in the lab might find a cure for Louise.

Yu-An squeezed her eyes shut tighter, now heavy and frost-bitten.
Even though she knew she would die earlier than others, Yu-An couldn’t be sure if Louise had died naturally or if her husband, Prince Clade Euphris, had killed her or worsened her condition. The rumors about Prince Clade were notoriously bad.

‘I have to ask.’

A new home. A new family.

Though Louise brought Yu-An from the hell of Euphris to this place, merely living as given and accepting were different matters. Yu-An needed to know how Louise died and what her last moments were like to finally bury Louise in her heart.

That seemed the only way Yu-An could live in this world without Louise, the world Louise brought her to.

“Ugh…”

As she wriggled her frozen fingers, it felt like her whole body was screaming. Sensation had long vanished from her fingertips.

Yu-An, who had spent nights pondering what to say upon meeting Prince Clade Euphris, now found it hard to distinguish between dream, reality, and hallucination.

That’s understandable since her surroundings were engulfed in complete silence.

The voices of the guards had abruptly stopped.

The sounds of a bird pecking at the carriage roof were no longer audible.

Even the chilling winter wind seemed to have ceased.

Am I dying?

Or am I already dead?

Should I shout towards the mansion before I die? Asking what Louise’s last moments were like? Asking if he was a kind husband to her?

As these futile thoughts filled her mind…

Thud!

Suddenly, there was a sound, and a rush of sharp air hit her face. The cold that she had barely kept at bay now struck her entire body.

Between furrowed brows, her black eyes twinkled as they were exposed.

Contrary to the cold air, the warm sunlight streaming in painfully caressed her eyes.

Ignoring the screams of her body, Yu-An creaked to her feet.

It was only when she had half-raised herself that she managed to fully open her crumpled eyelids.

In front of her, bathed in pouring light, stood a man with his back to her.

“Ah.”

Prince Clade Euphris.

No one had introduced him, nor had he introduced himself.

But this sensation, like bristles rising independently of the cold, was unmistakably from seeing him in person, just as the rumors had described.

Male lead reborn without memories — but he still falls for her.

The person he finds displeasing in this life turns out to be his cherished wife-master in previous life…

Xie Zhi and Fang Xianxing who had known each other for less than three days through a blind date sat in the same car in front of the civil affairs bureau. They had a disagreement and failed to get married.

Xie Zhi immediately took out his phone, slid through his contacts, and randomly selected the next marriage candidate.

The woman snatched his phone and hung up. Looking at his phone wallpaper, she awkwardly changed the subject: “An ancient painting, eh? It looks pretty good, it’s just that the person in the painting looks a bit like me.”

When he heard this, he sarcastically mocked her for being so delusional, completely unaware that, the person in front of him was the reincarnation of Wen Ru, the famous prime minister of Yuan Shun whom he most admired…

The female CEO who doesn’t want to get married with a divorce agreement in hand × The male archaeological researcher who will only get married if he’s sure he can get divorced
