‘Heaven helps those who help themselves.’
Finally, a golden opportunity for Chae Ha to reclaim his No.1 spot had come.
“A picnic?”
“Yes. It was announced in the notice. We’re going on a summer picnic for a forest experience.”
“A forest… I see.”
“UJu seems excited because he’s only lived on the island. He’s already thrilled.”
“But why does your expression seem so dark?”
Chae Ha scrutinized Seol Won’s face as she had been reviewing the schedule of the Ivy Kindergarten since a while ago. For a mother discussing her child’s picnic, she had a profound expression.
At this, she flinched and let out a small sigh.
“They’re recruiting two or three parents to accompany them. Because there are various programs, they say there might not be enough staff to manage it.”
“Companion?”
“Yes. Those who want to should apply by today…….”
“I see. So?”
With an interested look, Chae Ha waited for the next briefing.
Seol Won confided to him the reason behind her troubled expression.
“UJu said he’d like to go with his mom, but I have an important preliminary meeting for the Flower Festival on that day.”
“An important meeting. That’s good.”
As expected, Chae Ha slightly lifted the corner of his mouth so that she wouldn’t notice.
If she had such official schedules, the opportunities for me to be with UJu would increase.

“What’s good about it? UJu will be upset. No matter how attached a child is, he’s only been in kindergarten for a short while, it must still be unfamiliar…….”
“That’s something you say because you really don’t know the kid.”
“Excuse me? What do you mean?”
“Nothing really.”
As Chae Ha spoke as if he had been carefully observing UJu’s life at Ivy Kindergarten, Seol Won looked at him with a somewhat skeptical gaze.
He offered a wise and reasonable answer to assuage her worries.
“Don’t worry. I’ll go on that picnic.”
“What?”
“I said, I’ll go. With the kid.”
“……Why would you go? You’re busy.”
Facing Seol Won who was still nervous about his stance, Chae Ha quickly launched an attack.
“First, I’m not busy. Second, haven’t I already proven on paper that I’m UJu’s parent? I think this gives me enough qualification to go.”
His assertive and logical counter left a stunned look on Seol Won’s face.
Not missing a beat, Chae Ha further reassured her with an even more steadfast expression.
“I promise. I will definitely make the picnic very special for UJu.”
However, that promise hit a snag from the beginning.
The problem that couldn’t be handled by human power was the unexpected change in weather.

“Mom. Can’t UJu go on the picnic today?”
UJu mumbled, looking at the heavy rain beating against the living room window.
His usually excited voice seemed to have lost its energy in the face of the downpour on the day of the picnic.
“Let’s wait a little bit, UJu.”
While looking at UJu, Seol Won was anxiously waiting for the kindergarten’s notice update.
From yesterday evening, ominous clouds had suddenly rolled in, and by dawn, it had turned into a torrential downpour.
And it had almost affected all regions of the country.
“Mom, can’t we go on the space picnic?”
“Well… Ah! Wait a minute. There’s news.”
Frantically, Seol Won scrolled down the screen of her mobile phone.
With pitiful eyes, Woo Joo was hopelessly looking at her.
“Ah….”
A sigh slipped out of Seol Won’s mouth.

The picnic had been entirely cancelled, and a notification had popped up, asking them to arrive at school later than usual.
“Woo Joo. That is, um….”
Seol Won didn’t know how to explain a natural disaster.
For kids, whether it was raining or snowing, it didn’t stop them from playing.
“It’s okay. Kid. We’ll go on the picnic as planned.”
Seol Won, who had been anxiously checking the time, suddenly turned her head towards Chae Ha.
Woo Joo, who had been sticking his face to the window, perked up at his words and ran towards him.
“Great Uncle! Can we go on the space picnic?”
“Of course, we can.”
“Wow! We’re going on a space picnic~ Picnic! Picnic!”
Watching Woo Joo happily hopping around, Seol Won opened her mouth with a worried tone.
“You shouldn’t make promises to a kid that you can’t keep….”
“Who said I’m not keeping it? I told you. I’ll create a very special picnic for Woo Joo.”
“But how…. It’s raining like this.”
“Alright. Our busy wife needs to go work now. You have an important meeting today, right? Leave this to me and rest assured.”
“……”
A suspicious smile appeared on his lips, but Seol Won was in a rush. If she didn’t leave now, she would be late.
Today was the first meeting related to the festival, she couldn’t afford to be late.
And Chae Ha had been pushing her to leave with his eyes since earlier.
Reluctantly, Seol Won had to leave the father and son behind and hurry off.

“Mom. Have a safe trip~.”
“Alright. Woo Joo, listen to your uncle.”
“Yes! Woo Joo will listen well.”
“Take care.”
“……Yes.”
As soon as Seol Won left, Chae Ha, as if he had been waiting, called Mr. Jung.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
