“Are you not like that?”
As Huh Young-joo, who was intimidating to take a seat, questioned, Baek Sara looked at her openly as if she was explicitly displeased.
“Madam. It seems like you’ve been curious about me lately. I can tell from the sudden difficult questions you’re throwing at me.”
She replied with venomous eyes, glancing down at her fingernails.
It was more of an attitude toward a thoroughly bothersome person than facing the future mother-in-law.
“I did come out because you insisted that you had something important to say, but it’s awkward if you make incomprehensible remarks like this. You know I’m a busy person, right?”
“Sara, you…”
Huh Young-joo swallowed her dry saliva.
It had already been 30 minutes since she had sat there waiting. She probably intentionally came out late.
It was annoying, but now wasn’t the time to point that out.

Since the topic was what it was, she also didn’t intend to prolong the conversation.
So, Huh Young-joo decided to go straight to the point without beating around the bush.
“Our grandson got hurt. He almost got hit by a truck.”
“Oh~ Really? I heard there have been frequent accidents in front of the kindergarten lately, so you should be especially careful.”
“…How did you know it was in front of the kindergarten?”
At Huh Young-joo’s pointed question, Baek Sara raised her eyes from her fingernails and met her gaze.
No, it would be more accurate to say that she stared at her.
There was no trace of confusion or discomfort in her brilliantly shining pupils.
Rather, Baek Sara scoffed at Huh Young-joo with a hostile attitude.
“Madam. What do you want to hear? You’re not trying to imply that I did something foolish, are you? To our precious grandson?”

“It’s not that…”
“Because you go to the kindergarten, it must have happened in front of the kindergarten. What else could it mean? I don’t like being suspected like this.”
Huh Young-joo tried to glance away, but Baek Sara wasn’t an ordinary person either.
Rather than explanations, the uncomfortable feeling that couldn’t be resolved with one explanation was deepening.
Without proper confirmation, she couldn’t sleep well at night worrying about Woojoo.
After swallowing her saliva again, Huh Young-joo opened her mouth.
The man I had assigned to watch the kindergarten may not know much about other things, but he was a person who acknowledged at least one thing—his observational skills.
That’s why it was impossible to ignore the fact that there was no license plate on the truck, and it deliberately rushed toward Woojoo.
“Did you, by any chance, visit…”
“Madam.”

At the sudden cut-off of her words, a sharp sound of scratching the table with her fingernail echoed.
Baek Sara, who had been staring at Huh Young-joo with a piercing gaze, soon made a mischievous remark.
“It seems like you’re in a bad mood these days. Shall I make things interesting for you?”
“What?”
“I clearly told you last time. Don’t forget that you are the main contributor to making Min Seol-won disappear from the world.”
“…You.”
Baek Sara’s lips curved upward, drawing a crooked line.
Then, she pulled her fingernails off the table, making a sharp sound, and firmly clenched both fists.
It was an attitude that seemed to openly ridicule.
“Madam, do you know what weapon I’ve used to rise to the position of the cosmetic representative? It’s records.”
“…Records?”

“Yes. Come to think of it, there are quite a few valuable records. A copy of Min Seol-won’s maternity notebook that you personally showed me. If I have that and the voice recording where you asked me to get rid of Min Seol-won, what would you do?”
“…What?”
Huh Young-joo’s eyes widened to their limits.
Indeed, Baek Sara had a history of stealing the maternity notebook.
It was a deliberate move, but she never thought it would be a stumbling block for her.
After swallowing her trembling lips, Huh Young-joo muttered.
“Why… would you go that far?”
“Well, you know, a comrade from yesterday can become an enemy today, right? It’s the most important rule for someone in business. Thorough preparation, you know.”
Upon hearing her words, Huh Young-joo realized that she, too, was just a pawn in this game.
Unlike herself, who hadn’t expected this day to come, Baek Sara had already unfolded and examined several moves.

One person was overly meticulous, and the other was overly reckless.
Regretting emotionally charged actions from the past would be useless.
“I’ll be going now. Since I’m busy working, please don’t bother me with trivial matters in the future.”
Baek Sara stood up from her seat, as if implying there was no more conversation to be had.
With an endlessly sharp warning.
“Oh, and. It would be best for you to keep quiet. If you don’t want to see my precious records being delivered to Mrs. Kwon Chae-ha. You wouldn’t want to completely ruin what’s already not great between you two, right?”
Without delivering any retort to Baek Sara, who now showed no intention of maintaining courtesy, Huh Young-joo just stood there with her mouth agape.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
