It was dinner together after quite some time. A day of rest had been granted, like a dip in an otherwise packed schedule.

Fortunately, Tae Hong also had the time and could join. It felt like an at-home date after a long while, and my heart fluttered with excitement.

Cooking together with him had become routine. He took the lead, and Hae Jin played the supporting role.

After doing it many times, our coordination had improved, and I’d even learned his little cooking habits.

He was the type to tidy up right after cooking, and—somewhat unexpectedly—he quietly cared about the dishes he used to serve food.

A man good at everything was also good at cooking.

After heartily eating the meal Tae Hong prepared, we naturally headed to the living room. It was a familiar routine: someone would prepare dessert, and someone else would turn on the TV to decide what to watch.

An utterly ordinary kind of romance had quietly settled between Tae Hong and Hae Jin.

We dimmed the lights and fixed our eyes on the scene playing on the TV.

We sat side by side on the sofa, holding each other’s hands tightly. Our arms touched through our clasped hands, and Hae Jin rested her head on his broad shoulder.

Leaning entirely into him, we savored the subtle, tingling emotions between us.

When one program ended, Tae Hong changed the channel with the hand not holding Hae Jin’s. As we watched the channels flicker by, his phone on the side rang.

“Who would be calling at this hour?”

Tae Hong’s voice was sharp. Though it wasn’t technically late, outside it was already dark.

“Could it be Manager Lee? Earlier, he asked me to send some files. I did ask if it wasn’t urgent, whether I could handle it tomorrow instead.”
