It had been a hectic day. In the morning, Seo Woo’s sudden visit threw things off, and in the afternoon, she was overwhelmed with reorganizing her desk and handling various documents and coordination tasks.

Tae Hong had checked Hae Jin’s new desk location and then left for an external appointment.

She’d spent the whole day glued to emails and phone calls about documents and client matters.

“Deputy Manager Jeong, aren’t you heading home?”

Only then did she realize it was already time to leave. The words on paper didn’t tell time, so her sense of it had completely vanished.

“I still have some work left.”

Though she was nearly done, she’d been debating whether to get a head start on tomorrow’s tasks. A few teammates said their goodbyes and left.

Once their bustling departure quieted down, Hae Jin refocused on her paperwork. She figured she’d just finish this one file before going.

“Aren’t you heading home yet, Deputy Manager Jeong Hae Jin?”

Yeon Jung—whose voice alone grated on her nerves—stood right beside her, fully dressed and ready to leave.

Earlier, when Seo Woo had come by, Yeon Jung had been in the team leader’s office and looked full of questions. Yet she hadn’t asked Hae Jin anything directly.

She’d probably been too busy dealing with the avalanche of work before Yeon Jung could even ask.

“The team leader already left. Who’s going to appreciate you staying late?”

It felt like the roles had been reversed. She wasn’t doing it for recognition—it was simply what she wanted.

“Manager, please go ahead. I still have things to finish.”
