His single sentence sent tension rippling through the already awkward atmosphere. Whenever he expressed genuine emotions and spoke words that shook Hae Jin, she was utterly defenseless.

“Did it upset you?”

His question was cautious. It didn’t suit Moon Tae Hong—the mighty Moon Tae Hong—to be so tentative. Yet, she didn’t dislike this considerate side of him either.

“It didn’t upset me.”

What she knew for sure was that she wanted to show him the same honesty he’d shown her—saying exactly what she’d felt, without hiding anything.

“If it had upset me, it would’ve been for a whole hour.”

As she spoke, she let out a deep sigh. Her mind had already drifted back to dawn, and parts of her body, still clinging to the fading edges of that memory, refused to obey her control. She needed to wrap this up quickly—afraid that the fantasies in her head might spill over into reality.

“Anyway, I didn’t dislike it either.”

She wondered if a grown adult should really be this worked up over a single kiss—but then again, her partner was her boss, Moon Tae Hong. And as Yeon Chang’s successor, it made sense she’d feel this way.

Hae Jin couldn’t keep her lips still. She kept biting them lightly with her teeth, trying to shake off the sensation—but that only made the feeling more intense.

So focused was she on her lips that she didn’t even notice his gaze fixed firmly on them.

She’d chewed on them so much they’d begun to ache. Just as she was about to lower the sun visor to check them in the mirror, his long arm suddenly shot forward toward her.

Tae Hong gently grasped her chin and turned her face toward him. If she thought his eyes had softened again as they met hers once more, would that be jumping the gun?
