Just as she was about to step out, Haegin turned back to Taehong, who also turned around at the same moment.
“Since I plan to use all three visits for hotel inspections.”
“So?”
Did he catch on?
“It’s all for company work, right?”
“So?”
He did catch on.
“Can I use the corporate card?”
Taehong chuckled. Haegin smiled even wider.
Because you can’t spit on a smiling face.

“Let’s do that.”
No business with a smiling face, indeed.
“Thank you. I’ll enjoy it to the fullest for the sake of the company.”
Taehong could only laugh at Haegin’s words. His expression was one of amusement, thinking, what an unusual person she was, but she didn’t back down.
Haegin bowed her head slightly and stretched one leg out of the car. She then returned to the driver’s seat. As Taehong walked towards his house, suddenly Haegin, seated in the driver’s seat, hurried towards him.
Knock knock, he tapped on the window. Just as Haegin was about to drive off, she hurriedly rolled down the window.
“Manager, do you have something to say?”
Having received the corporate card, she felt even more compelled to work diligently and passionately. Haegin looked at Taehong with bright, eager eyes.
“Assistant Manager Haegin.”
Something in Taehong’s expression seemed hesitant and awkward. Is he going to ask for the corporate card back? She cautiously fiddled with the corporate card she had pocketed.
“About what I said earlier.”

There it was, the most petty thing to do – taking back what he gave. As expected, her hand kept fiddling with the corporate card.
“That I’m not a guy who would say such things to just any woman.”
Haegin tilted her head, surprised by this unexpected turn of events.
“It was a mistake.”
What kind of situation was this?
“Assistant Manager Haegin is not just any woman to me.”
Leaving only those words behind, Taehong turned back and walked the way he came. Haegin’s hand, which had been fiddling with the corporate card, had long since stopped.
What did I just hear?
Haegin couldn’t leave the parking lot immediately. Even though Taehong’s figure had disappeared, she remained there for a while.
How did she even get home? Despite having driven this route a few times and memorizing the lanes, she arrived home. She had indeed arrived, but now parked right in front of her house, Haegin couldn’t step out of the car.

“Not just any woman,” and that it was a “mistake.”
Taehong’s words kept repeating in her ears. Her face felt like it was about to explode, and she brought her hands to her cheeks.
Ouch, it’s hot.
Is my body heating up?
Is it my head that’s gone weird, or my heart?
The mistake wasn’t Taehong’s, it was hers. She thought the whole day-long association meant unnecessary emotions shouldn’t arise, and she should clearly distinguish right from wrong.
She should have let it slide, not pursued him to the end, not joked about the black box being evidence. Then her face and heart wouldn’t be burning like this.
No, it’s not her fault.
Though she hated to admit it, it was because of his handsome face, his unpredictable nature, his acting skills worthy of a leading man, pretending to know nothing.
The biggest problem is that he said she was not just any woman to him. Why did he have to look so serious while saying it?

Haegin shook her head vigorously. A rugby ball was bouncing haphazardly in her mind.
It’s all Manager Moon Taehong’s fault, because of that rugby ball, she wanted to blame anyone.
Snap out of it, Haegin. He said it meant nothing because you’re important for this project.
Don’t let your imagination run wild.
It’s just a momentary delusion because of a fluttering heart that hasn’t been felt in a long time.
Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!
The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
