Young In took a sip of the water placed in front of her.

Every time the tension rose, she had been drinking, and before she knew it, the glass was almost empty.

Sung Hyuk switched his water glass with Young In’s and gently covered her trembling hand with his own.

“You seem even more nervous than when you came to my house. Your maternal family should be less intimidating than your in-laws.”

“I’ve met Sung Hyuk’s parents before, but this is the first time I’m meeting Grandpa and Aunt.”

Young In was currently waiting in a private room of a hotel restaurant in Seoul with Sung Hyuk for her maternal grandfather and aunt, whom she had never met before. Yet even amid the nervousness, the phone call from last night kept weighing on her mind.

“Young In-ah, your maternal grandfather and aunt want to meet you. Is that okay?”

“They… want to… meet… me…?”

“They miss you. They’ll also tell you where your mom’s grave is.”

“I want to meet them too.”

“Then go and meet them well.”

“…Aren’t you coming with me?”

“Your grandfather probably doesn’t want to see me.”

Young In had only heard that her maternal family sent her, a newborn baby, to her paternal family, but she could guess the reason. The thought that she was the one who caused her mom’s death kept coming back, perhaps making her tremble even more.

“I’m also worried they might be misunderstanding something…”
