Sung Hyuk urgently pushed open the gate and rushed inside.

As he ran across the yard and reached the front door, this time the door was firmly locked. Only after pounding on it furiously did it finally open.

The moment he flung the door open, he saw a cell phone with a shattered screen. If the call hadn’t stayed connected, he wouldn’t have known what was happening to Young In—he shuddered at the thought.

Without even taking off his shoes, he ran down the hallway and into the living room, where he spotted Young In collapsed on the floor.

Seeing her with only one shoe on was so pitiful that his chest tightened. He’d guessed the lone shoe in the hallway was hers, but confirming it with his own eyes made his emotions surge even more.

Sung Hyuk knelt down in front of her.

Seeing the red handprint on her cheek and her completely disheveled hair made his blood boil. Rage twisted inside him up inside.

Unable to bring himself to touch her cheek, he pulled back his outstretched hand and silently stood up.

The pity in his eyes vanished the instant they left Young In.

Beom Joon, who had been rolling his frightened eyes around, flinched when he met Sung Hyuk’s gaze.

Madam Kwak wasn’t beside Beom Joon right now because the moment he panicked and opened the door for Sung Hyuk, she had fled straight to the master bedroom. She didn’t want to be blamed for standing by while A Rim acted out. That was why Sung Hyuk didn’t know Madam Kwak had simply watched with her arms crossed while Young In was being humiliated.

“Chae Beom Jun.”

Just hearing his name called made Beom Joon panic and wave his hands frantically.

“It wasn’t me! I didn’t lay a finger on Young In!”

“Oh, so while Chae A Rim was losing it all by herself, you just stood there watching?”
