The strategy meeting was the first meeting that Sung Hyuk had personally convened since taking office as the CEO of SL Entertainment.

Up until now, he had actively attended all the necessary meetings for understanding the operations—weekly meetings, executive meetings, team leader meetings—but he had never called one himself.

Convening a strategy meeting meant that his grasp of the business and the establishment of future plans were perfectly complete. For the employees, it also meant they now had the chance to see whether Cha Sung Hyuk truly had the qualities to lead SL Entertainment.

“In the future, I will concentrate all our capabilities on making SL Entertainment leap forward as a global company.”

After presenting the goal, Sung Hyuk pointed out the current reality.

“Until now, SL Entertainment has focused mainly on the domestic market and management business. To put it nicely, we pursued stability; to put it bluntly, we grew comfortable with the status quo and have been smoothly heading toward obsolescence.”

The executives who were hit where it hurt quietly averted their eyes from him.

“I plan to dive headfirst into content planning and production. Right now, we are reviewing scripts suitable for production investment. We also plan to establish a new studio to strengthen our content production capabilities. We are considering acquiring existing production companies as well. In the near future, I intend to begin discussions about launching our own OTT platform.”

The vice president, who had been listening silently, subtly interjected.

“If we proceed according to your plan, CEO, for the time being there will be no money coming in and only an enormous amount going out—will that really be all right?”

The vice president harbored considerable resentment toward Sung Hyuk, who had suddenly become CEO. He had dreamed of being promoted to the position himself, so Sung Hyuk’s very existence was naturally prickly to him.

On top of that, being implicitly scolded for having run the company complacently made him extremely upset. That was why he pettily protested that it wasn’t as if they had failed to act because they didn’t know better.

“Of course. Securing funds, running deficits—everything will be my responsibility.”

Sung Hyuk slowly scanned the executives as he continued.

“Everyone here knows that if it isn’t me, no one can make such bold investments, and if I can’t do it, no one else can.”
