Young In turned around abruptly and quickly retraced her steps back the way she had come.

Hae Yoon, flustered, widened her eyes and hurriedly followed suit.

“Team Leader, what’s wrong?”

What caught Young In’s eye as she stopped was the restroom.

“……I, I suddenly need the restroom.”

Hae Yoon quickly followed Young In as she entered the restroom.

“Your face suddenly went so pale, I thought you were sick and got really startled.”

Young In reflexively looked in the mirror. Just as Hae Yoon said, her complexion was ghostly white. Sweat was beading on her palms.

“Go back to the office, Hae Yoon.”

“Yes, good luck with the meeting.”

Since Hae Yoon had only intended to follow her up to the meeting room anyway, she promptly left the restroom so the team leader could relieve herself in peace.

Young In entered a stall, locked the door, and let out a long sigh.

The brief relief of not running into Sung Hyuk’s mother quickly gave way to a wave of self-loathing for hiding like someone who had committed a crime.

That day, his mother hadn’t raised her voice even once. She had spoken what she needed to say very elegantly and then stood up.

Yet what made it more humiliating than ever was the feeling that Madam Han In Sook didn’t see her as an equal human being.
