From morning through fieldwork, meetings, and conferences, Youngin spent a hectic time. It was around 2:30 PM when she could finally take a breath. Of course, it didn’t mean there was nothing to do.
Youngin, instead of checking the movie audition schedule, got up from her seat and went to Haeyoon’s desk.
“Do you still have the designated script video for the non-face-to-face audition? Why haven’t you sent it yet?”
Haeyoon’s eyes, raising her head, flickered.
“Oh, I’ll send it now.”
Haeyoon hastily clicked on a folder right in the center of her computer desktop.
“How about the new profile picture taken by Jiyu?”
“Oh, let me check if it came in.”
Unlike usual, Youngin closely examined Haeyoon’s face, which seemed to have one screw missing.
“What’s wrong? Is something going on?”
Haeyoon lifted her head with an expression that seemed to cry at any moment.
“Team Leader, I’m going crazy because of Minso Unni. She says she can’t continue shooting because the psychological shock is too much.”
“Is it still like that?”
“It’s getting worse.”
“Then tell her to leave.”
“…What?”
“I’ll talk to her, so call and replace me.”
Haeyoon immediately called her assigned actor and replaced Youngin.
“Miss Minso, it’s Cha Youngin.”
What’s going on?
Her voice was somewhat sharp.
“I heard it’s hard for you to continue shooting.”
Wouldn’t it be easier for someone like you? After reading articles about bad acting and all! What exactly are you guys doing!
“We can only know if the article is uploaded, except for special cases.”
Then you should have at least suppressed it. I’m the one paying for such things.
“We asked the reporter, but it didn’t work well.”
Must have only explained enough to not work.
“….”
Youngin suppressed the words that surged up to her throat.
Honestly, even though she asked the reporter to suppress the article, she felt embarrassed.
Why? Because there wasn’t a single wrong word from beginning to end.
Where did you bring that shitty drama from, making me look like this?
She decided not to endure excessive tantrums anymore.
“Miss Minso wanted to do this drama so much, do you remember Jiyu and I dissuaded her when she said it didn’t suit her voice and that it would be better to challenge later in historical dramas? Surely you haven’t forgotten.”
If you couldn’t stop her until the end, then shut up.
“I’m sorry if I couldn’t stop until the end.”
Youngin apologized calmly. But she couldn’t keep her mouth shut.
“Are you really not going to shoot?”
No, I can’t. No, I can’t.
“Then we’ll proceed with the withdrawal.”
-Withdrawal? Are you in your right mind? We’re shooting episode 7 now, and two episodes have been broadcasted.
“If you can’t shoot, then what other options are there?”
The director would probably tell me to do it anyway.
Mockery and ridicule hit her ears simultaneously.
“I’ll take responsibility and handle it. I’ll try to handle the aftermath of an actor leaving during the drama broadcast, so the second time should be better.”
….
“You’ll soon be contacted by the legal team about the penalty issue. Please don’t turn off your phone.”
A penalty?
“Did you try to avoid any responsibility?”
Team Leader, is this really going to happen? Do I have to go through this even though you clearly know how difficult it is for me right now?
It was a voice that seemed to have used the whale whale curse just a while ago. However, Youngin had no intention of yielding here.
“We’re just doing what Minso wants. We prioritize the actor’s intentions.”
……
“I’ll meet the director and get back to you. Take a rest.”
Youngin hung up and returned the cellphone to Haeyoon.
“Lie down and stretch your legs. Don’t endure even unreasonable things.”
“But we can’t let the shooting fail…….”
For a moment, Haeyoon’s eyes sparkled with curiosity.
“But, Team Leader, is Minso really leaving?”
“You’re talking nonsense.”
“She said if she tries it once, she might do better the second time……. ”
“She might do better, but she doesn’t want to. It’s tiring.”
Haeyoon stared at Youngin, who was scowling, and giggled.
“You’ll be contacted soon. Take care.”
“Yes, Team Leader.”
“If something like this happens again, pass it directly to me. I’ll take care of the villain role.”
“I don’t want to.”
“Don’t want to?”
“I’ll handle it on my own from now on. Team Leader already has an image of being heartless and tearless; there’s no need to reinforce it.”
Youngin played along with the half-joking words.
“I have no tears or blood?”
“Yes.”
Haeyoon’s gesture was quite intense.
“Half is true. I have no tears.”
It was an undeniable fact that she hadn’t shed a tear even once since breaking up with the man she had once loved.
Youngin’s nonchalant gaze turned to the wall clock.
“Time has already passed like this. I’ll go after the strategy meeting.”
“Take care.”
Returning to her seat, Youngin picked up her tablet PC and cellphone, then left the office. But someone was leaning against the wall next to the office door.
“Jagiya.”
It was Hyunsim, the manager of Management Team 2.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
