No Evil Lady in the World (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 7
“Then is it time to go meet the young lady?”
Muttering to herself as if casting a spell in front of the mirror, Meiana energetically opened the door and stepped out.
Was she too energetic, perhaps? A maid who had somehow entered the living room flinched, stifling a scream by clamping her mouth shut. Her face drained of color, and her shoulders trembled violently.
She looked Meiana up and down, then suddenly frowned with a flushed face.
“You, who are you?”
Her tone was sharp, clearly intent on interrogating, but her voice was so soft it was barely audible, likely out of consideration for the young lady supposedly sleeping in the bedroom.
Meiana replied.
“I’m, I mean, starting today… I’m Meiana, here to serve as the young lady’s personal maid.”
The maid standing before her looked a year or two younger than Meiana, no matter how you saw it, but Meiana cleverly recalled what Joslin had said.
[There’s a hierarchy among the servants here. Got it?]Of course, in any noble household, there was a hierarchy among the servants. For example, ordinary maids could never aspire to the position of head maid, and a kitchen novice who coveted the chef’s role might end up in serious trouble.
Such extreme cases didn’t happen often, but there were still strict rules among the servants. However, among those of similar age, even if one had a few years’ seniority, they often got along as casual colleagues.
‘The reason she said that must be one of two things. Either she thinks I’ve never worked as a maid before, or she’s not talking about the usual hierarchy… She wouldn’t think I’ve never done maid work just by looking at my appearance. So, it must be the latter.’
While Meiana was logically piecing things together, the maid, now with an expression that screamed she was in control, crossed her arms and stared at Meiana.
“The young lady’s personal maid? I haven’t heard anything about that.”
“It was decided suddenly.”
“Did the head butler hire you?”
“No, Duke Valterminster himself hired me.”
In that moment, the maid’s expression changed drastically. It was such an intense shift that one might seriously worry if such rapid changes in blood pressure were safe.
The maid said.
“The duke has never personally hired a servant before.”
Meiana tilted her head, deliberately acting nonchalant.
“Well, it seems the young lady doesn’t have a personal maid right now, so perhaps he thought it urgent to hire someone quickly for his precious daughter?”
“Do you think the duke handles matters so carelessly?”
“Then wouldn’t the fastest way be to ask the duke himself…?”
The maid’s eyebrows shot up fiercely. She didn’t realize Meiana was saying this on purpose. If she had, she’d likely have been even more furious…
Meiana drove the point home.
“I’m good at sewing, and having grown up with many younger siblings, I’m used to caring for children. If you’re worried about the young lady, don’t be, senior.”
“Who’s your senior? You had many siblings? Hmph, you’re probably some country bumpkin. Bet you were cutting grass on a farm before running off to the capital. Lucky you, catching the duke’s eye. But you’d better not act cocky.”
“Of course, senior. I’ll behave humbly.”
The maid, face red and fuming, stormed across the living room. After the heavy door closed silently, an irritated yelp came from outside.
“There’s always one like that, wherever you go.”
Meiana shrugged as if it were no big deal. It wasn’t exactly pleasant, but having endured plenty of this at Viscount Pobeck’s estate, it wasn’t unbearable. That tiresome hazing…
‘If I just stick by the young lady’s side, it’s all good. I’ll be busy enough serving her, so who has time to deal with hazing?’
Meiana thought.
Left alone, she looked around the spacious, elegant living room with admiring eyes. Soon, her gaze fell on the hallway leading to the bedroom. Joslin had said that when the young lady wakes from her nap, she needs to do her overdue homework.
‘Homework…’
At seven years old, it’s probably something like practicing writing, Meiana thought.
Entering the young lady’s bedroom, Meiana was startled once again. The bedroom was as grand as the living room, filled with expensive, refined furniture. It felt more suited to a mature woman of twenty-seven than a seven-year-old.
What caught her eye most was the large bed, placed slightly away from the window. It was big enough for three adults to lie side by side, and in the center of the sheet, pulled up nearly to the pillow, was a distinct bulge.
Meiana quickly realized the bulge was Lady Ariante. What seemed to be her shoulder, more prominent than the rest, rose and fell faintly with each breath.
‘Doesn’t she feel stifled…?’
The room was cool, but it was early summer. Even a thin sheet, pulled up over her head like that, would surely make her sweat profusely.
Meiana carefully lifted the sheet. Planning to pull it down just below the chin to help her breathe easier, she intended to leave the room quickly.
But the moment Ariante’s face was revealed from under the sheet, Meiana froze, her eyes widening.
“Goodness…”
A soft gasp escaped Meiana’s lips in awe.
Lady Ariante, sleeping quietly on her side, was an unbelievably beautiful child. Her long eyelashes, casting deep shadows over her eyes, seemed like they could hold a matchstick.
Her slightly upturned nose and lips were delicate, and her cheeks, still chubby with youth, were rosy and soft-looking. Even a cherub from a church ceiling painting would look like a mere street urchin compared to Ariante.
‘My goodness, how can she be this pretty? Look at those long eyelashes. I’d believe it if someone said Duke Valterminster was secretly raising a fairy.’

Anyone who had ever seen a child so lovely they couldn’t help but smile would surely understand Meiana’s feelings.
Meiana felt an urge bubbling up from deep within to stroke her hair or poke her cheek.
It was absolutely, positively, not a creepy intention. It was the same impulse as wanting to cuddle a kitten or grin ear to ear at a puppy with short legs and a stubby tail. Exactly that kind of urge.
Swallowing hard, Meiana extended her index finger to gently poke Ariante’s cheek. Or rather, she tried to.
Just before her fingertip touched the soft cheek, Ariante’s eyes snapped open, and she turned to look at Meiana.
“Ah!”
Seeing a pair of large eyes staring at her, Meiana flinched as if caught stealing and quickly pulled back. But Ariante was faster, grabbing Meiana’s wrist before she could stand.
‘Whoa, this kid. She’s stronger than she looks!’
Meiana thought, startled. A child’s grip, strong as it was, could easily be shaken off by an adult with a bit of effort, but their current relationship meant Meiana had to defer completely.
“I’m sorry, my lady.”
Meiana apologized hastily, her wrist still held. At that moment, she noticed another astonishing detail. Ariante’s eyes, specifically her pupils, staring straight at her, completely captivated her attention.
Ariante’s eyes were a lighter blue than Duke Valterminster’s, almost a pale jade, reminiscent of a shallow coastline.
Because of the light iris color, the pupil at the center stood out sharply. For some reason, it didn’t seem black but rather an unusual bluish hue.
Ariante, gripping Meiana’s wrist tightly and pursing her lips for a long moment, spoke.
“Who are you?”
Her voice was soft but clear. Though beautiful, it was unmistakably a child’s voice.
Perhaps because of that, the shock from those extraordinary eyes softened slightly. Meiana, still looking at her captured wrist, quickly smiled.
“My apologies, my lady. I’m Meiana Dawson, starting today as your personal attendant.”
“I wasn’t told about this. Who said you’re to serve me?”
The sharp retort made Meiana falter slightly, but she quickly regained her composure and answered calmly.
“I was hired by Duke Valterminster, my lady. Your father.”
“Father hired you himself?”
Meiana nodded. Ariante, still suspicious, stared at her for a long while.
At only seven years old, it was hard to believe, but Ariante’s face was full of skepticism, like a seasoned, prickly guard.
Ariante said.
“Fine, I get it. You’re the new nag, aren’t you?”
“Pardon? My lady, what do you mean…”
“But what were you doing at my bed?”
Meiana, now truly flustered, opened and closed her mouth. The questions were all over the place, but more than that, the phrase “at my bed” threw her off.
When she didn’t answer immediately, Ariante clumsily twisted her lips. She seemed to want to sneer, but at her young age, controlling her facial muscles was tricky, resulting in an odd expression.
“Are you a creep?”
“What?”
“A creep. That’s what they call people who like kids, right?”
“Absolutely not! And who taught you such a word?”
Ariante, as if enjoying Meiana’s flustered reaction, smirked and said again.
“If you’re not a creep, why were you at my bed?”
“Well, I…”
Should she honestly say she just wanted to poke her cheek because she looked so cute sleeping? And who in the world taught a child such a word!
No, no. Meiana quickly banished the stray thoughts. Hesitating like this would surely make her seem suspicious. She racked her brain desperately. She needed an answer…

Intro
Dong Xia lost her memory.
Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”
Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.
…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂
*
Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.
The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.
In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.
The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.
And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.
