“Where is he?”

Ainte’s eyes briefly gleamed sharply.

“In his cabin, Your Grace. Zelso is guarding him.”

Sediloi nodded.

“Keep watching him. Inform me immediately when he wakes. But no torture.”

“Understood.”

Turning, Ainte left the dining room without even the sound of footsteps, unlike when he entered.

Jemero had sent Ainte and Zelso to track Becker, a former forester of the ducal family. Their official status was no different from the ordinary retainers of the ducal estate. The difference was that both had spent their childhoods in harsh lands, surviving tenaciously.

Sediloi didn’t know exactly how Jemero had trained and taken in these two boys, who growled like untamed, ferocious beasts.

When they first came to this house, Sediloi was still at the royal palace, not yet returned to the ducal estate. But Jemero trusted them deeply, and if Jemero trusted them, Sediloi could trust them too.

And they had not betrayed that trust.

Sediloi left the dining room, leaving his unfinished meal behind. He rushed to the study, pulled out Klof’s letter from a drawer, and checked the date again. If no issues arose, he would arrive at the duchy in exactly five days.

And Joslin would return around the same time as Klof.
