Joslyn stared wide-eyed at the Duchess. She remained silent for a long while, breathing only in sharp, angry gasps like a furious beast.

Her mind had gone utterly blank, incapable of thought. In that moment, all Joslyn wanted was to snatch the child from the Duchess’s arms and hurl him to the floor.
