When she knocked on the door, Jemero appeared. He showed no surprise at the marchioness’s unexpected visit—likely because he’d seen the carriage arriving from inside.

“Marchioness, welcome. His Grace noticed your carriage and instructed me to prepare tea. Please follow me to the drawing room.”
