Arianthe shouted in frustration. Cediloy promptly pulled the child trying to cross the sofa into his embrace.
“Arianthe, you need to calm down.”
“Father! Swan won’t tell me the secret!”
A faint furrow appeared on Cediloy’s forehead. It wasn’t irritation… just a reflexive reaction due to the almost eardrum-shattering sound.
Cediloy spoke, “I wonder who our daughter resembles in the hip joint to have such a thunderous voice.”
To this, Arianthe responded with a snort, as if asking if he didn’t know, “Mother.”
Of course, when Arianthe mentioned “Mother,” it wasn’t Liria but Mayana. At that moment, Mayana poked her head out from behind a large partition placed across one side of the living room.
“What about me?”
Arianthe quickly replied, “Father says Mother’s voice is too loud!”
Mayana widened her eyes at Cediloy. In response, Cediloy, in a state of confusion, looked at Swan.
“Swan, did I say that? I didn’t, right?”
Swan blinked innocently. At that very moment, Cediloy realized he had chosen the wrong party to plead for redemption.
“I don’t know.”
“Father said so!”
Arianthe laughed loudly again, taunting. Mayana said, “So, you’ve witnessed my misery? I get it.”
“No, it’s not like that…”
However, Mayana’s figure vanished beyond the partition in an instant. Cediloy, who had been elegantly observing the restless children clapping hands and giggling, sighed.
“Betraying your father like this. Both of you.”
“Mother seems to enjoy bothering Father.”
“Then you don’t feel the need to stop her, our daughter?”
Arianthe’s small shoulders shrugged. Then, with mischievous and twinkling eyes, she stared intently at Cediloy.
As if saying, “Not at all?”
The gaze implied.
After hearing some commotion beyond the partition, Mayana walked out, wearing an elegant, deep pink dress with a translucent white shawl. The so-called ‘punishment’ she received was, in fact, a kind of game of changing clothes in front of Cediloy, Arianthe, and Swan…
For her, who found even changing clothes once a day in the morning and evening bothersome, there couldn’t be a more significant punishment. And the other three had no punishments that satisfied them more than this.
“Mom, you look so beautiful!”
Arianthe, who had hopped down from Cediloy’s knees, rushed towards Mayana. Then, she tightly held Mayana’s hand and turned her body towards Cediloy and Swan as if to show off.
“Look! Mom and I are wearing the same clothes!”
“Come to think of it, that’s true.” Upon Cediloy’s words, Arianthe felt a surge of excitement and jumped up. Then, she pushed Mayana’s hips toward the partition.
“Now, something different! Mom, something else!”
“No, already? Give me some time to rest, and no…”
It was an impossible request. As soon as they pushed through the partition, Veinti, Ivy, and Bridget rushed in as if they were waiting, undressing Mayana. Before putting on the new dress, they changed her underwear.
Mayana felt as if she had become almost a full Torso, eventually surrendering her body to the three without using any strength. Arianthe occasionally peeked over the partition, urging, “Try this one, and that one too,” with enthusiasm.
Mayana spoke.
“Arianthe, it feels like Mom is going to die. Can’t we stop now?”
In response, Arianthe jumped over the partition.
“No, Mom! I won’t die from this! It’s okay!”
“None of this is okay.”
Veinti chuckled. In that moment, Arianthe’s eyes widened. A sense of joyful realization of why she hadn’t thought of this earlier passed over the child’s face.
“Veinti! Veinti, try on a dress too!”
At that, Veinti, who was laughing, had an expression as if a stone had fallen on her head.
“No, me? All of a sudden? My lady, no matter what, how could I dare to casually wear your dress?”
Mayana immediately nodded.
“What a shame, Veinti? If you want to wear it, I can lend you anything. Come over here. Yes, that’s right. Why didn’t I think of this sooner?”
“Disappointingly, what are you saying, Veinti? If you want to wear it, I can lend you anything. Come over here. Yes, that’s right. Why didn’t I think of this sooner?”
“No, wait. Just a moment! My lady! No, I’m good! I said I’m good…!”
The Tuallet room closed with a click. Arianthe, still holding Veinti, laughed, then leaped over the partition. Afterward, she clung to Cedelloy’s knees.
“Father, when will we go to Wangsung again?”
Cedelloy gently smiled and stroked his daughter’s head.
“Do you want to go to Wangsung again?”
“I want to! It was so cool when we had the New Year’s party last time. Everyone said Mom was beautiful! I want to show how beautiful Mom is again!”
Mayana hesitated, but Cedelloy led Mayana, Arianthe, and Swan to the first New Year’s party after their marriage. Some nobles grumbled, but nothing unpleasant happened.
If someone stared at Mayana with impure intentions, Arianthe would charge right in and confront them with an intimidating attitude. Thanks to Cedelloy’s polite yet firm responses, all the curious questions were quickly cut off.
The King of Elmerat also showed an embracing attitude towards their family…
“Everyone said Mom is beautiful.”
Arianthe said in a dreamy voice.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
