While people were dying, comfortably dating, drinking, and kissing.

And fluttering.

It was too pathetic.

Why is the hangover soup so delicious in this situation?

“Isn’t this enough to be a topclass husband?”
While watching Tae In eat heartily, Nok Hyun asked casually.

“……It might be in the top three hundred.”
“That’s harsh.”
But even while saying that, Nok Hyun stroked Tae In’s hair.

“Me, me too, please.”
Arin, who was munching on scrambled eggs, pointed at her own head seeing that.

Nok Hyun chuckled and stroked Arin’s hair as well.

“I have to go to work. See you later.”
“……Will you be home early?”
“Why, would you like it if I came early?”
“I was just asking.”
Anyway, she never just answers. Tae In stuck out her lips.

“Ah, I don’t want to go to work.”
Nok Hyun grumbled lightly and reluctantly stood up.

Tae In and Arin held hands and saw Nok Hyun off.

With a request to bring chicken when he returned.

“Sister. Um, when can I go to kindergarten?”
“Do you want to go to kindergarten?”

Tae In nodded at Arin’s question and then shook her head.

There were kids who mocked her for not being able to speak properly, but learning new things was nice.

No, perhaps it was nice not being at home.

“I’m sorry, sister is a scaredycat.”
Tae In stroked Arin’s small head.

If Seji with a twisted sense of judgement put Arin in danger again.

If someone harboring grudges against Tae In kidnapped Arin.

Ah, she didn’t even want to imagine.

Those with something to protect tend to be more scared. It was the reason why she wanted to run away, even while desiring revenge.

“It’s okay. I, I like it just being here.”
Perhaps she should consider a homevisit teacher.

If Tae In started working in earnest, someone needed to look after Arin.

Somehow, she felt sorry to ask Ikhyun.

Looking at Arin, Tae In suddenly remembered what Arin said in the past.

“Arin, you said that dad hurt your sister then. Can you tell me about it?”
“Th, that time……”
Arin’s complexion darkened abruptly.

It seemed as if she was swallowed by fear.

“Arin, you don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to.”
When Arin was happy, angry, or sad, her heart beat excessively fast, and so she stuttered more severely.

Arin, looking at Tae In with trembling eyes, seemed to have made up her mind and borrowed Tae In’s phone to open the memo app.

Tae In took in the words appearing on the phone screen.

I talked to the scary man, sausage sister, and dad.

Dad said he had to kill sister.

He said it’s over if sister knows everything.

The scary man Arin talked about was Younggap.

He was perceived as a good person by everyone, but not to Arin.

Arin was always scared of Younggap.

As if something had happened.

But no matter how much she asked, she wouldn’t answer.

Tae In hugged Arin tightly.

Arin shed tears as she recalled that time.

“It’s okay, it’s okay, Arin. It will be really okay now.”
Tae In kept muttering as she patted Arin’s back.

As if she was talking to herself.

Juyeon dialed a number that was on her block list.

The other person picked up quickly, as if they had been waiting.

“Are you crazy? How could you give me a counterfeit as a gift? Do you know how embarrassed I was?”
No, no way it’s a counterfeit. That’s impossible. I personally bought it from a department store. Juyeon, let’s not do this, let’s meet and talk. Let’s meet first, okay?
As if she had heard enough, Juyeon hung up the call and blocked the number again.

The man was a film director. A man she had dated briefly when she couldn’t get cast because of rumors of an affair.

“I must be crazy. This is why people say not to date a married man.”
Juyeon, who had realized this too late, was trembling with rage.

The cell phone tossed on the sofa vibrated again.

“What, was it not blocked?”
Looking at the cell phone screen, the protagonist tilted her head.

The person who called was Shim Yoo Ran.

Thinking she might be able to make up for yesterday’s humiliation if she played her cards right, the protagonist quickly picked up the call.

“It’s mother.”
It’s been a while. Shall we meet?
“Of course. Should I come to you?”
Send the address in a message.
“Yes, I’ll be right there!”
As soon as the call ended, the protagonist darted out of the dressing room. She found an innocent yet elegant outfit to change into and haphazardly stuffed the counterfeit clothes she couldn’t stand to see into the trash.

The meeting place was a gallery run by Yoo Ran.

As the protagonist, Yoo Ran was glamorous and imposing.

The protagonist stared blankly at Yoo Ran.

Even though they were rivals, Yoo Ran was the protagonist’s role model.

She was always confident and still beautiful.

The two sat across from each other in a cafe set up in a corner of the gallery.

It was the perfect environment for a private meeting as there were no staff or customers.

“There really is everything in the world, huh?”
“You said it. I thought that person was dead, then suddenly they appear like that.”
“I felt so sorry to you.”
“Ah, you didn’t know, mother. It can happen.”
When the protagonist showed a refreshing smile, Yoo Ran also smiled warmly.

“But you don’t have to worry too much. After all, it’s a marriage of convenience between the two of them.”
“…They looked close, though? I saw them at the department store.”
At the protagonist’s words, Yoo Ran narrowed her eyes.

“He’s acting. Nok Hyun is a bit calculative, you know.”
“…Is that so? But he really had no interest in women since school.”
“He had a woman he cared about.”
Saying so, Yoo Ran clasped the protagonist’s hand.

“I have no doubt that it was you. You’re also the perfect candidate to be the mistress of HK.”
Yoo Ran said, wearing a warm expression.

Seeing her ally’s support, the protagonist, who was shedding tears and nodding her head, tilted her head at the sight of the small, clear plastic bag in her hand.

“Mother, what is this…?”
“Sleeping pills. Our Nok Hyun used to have trouble sleeping when he was stressed.”
“……”
“How you use it is up to you. But if I were you, I wouldn’t waste it.”
The protagonist understood Yoo Ran’s words.

It wasn’t just sleeping pills.

It could be a magic potion that might help to develop her relationship with Nok Hyun.

“Thank you, mother. I’ll become a really good daughterinlaw.”

When male lead is the homewrecker

“I know she doesn’t love him.”

I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!

The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.

Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.

The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.

I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.

There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.

For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.

I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.

Here’s the story synopsis:

One-line summary: She is his lifelong obsession, to the point where he was willing to be a third wheel, scorned by society, just to wedge his way into her relationship with her fiancé.

Cold-hearted and indifferent female lead + Scheming and subservient CEO male lead

Intro 1:

“I know she doesn’t love him.”

With blood trickling from his clenched fist, Rong Xiu gazed at the woman before him, his eyes clouded with anguish. Hidden in the wardrobe, he had witnessed Fan Xia – the woman he desperately loved – in an intimate embrace with her fiancé. Yet his heart still yearned for her, defying all reason.

Fan Xia, the elegant and composed assistant, carried something mysterious in her eyes whenever she looked at her fiancé, Wen Lan Sheng. Strange occurrences began to surface – secret meetings with the young Gu Jin Yi, an unexplained withdrawal of 5,000 yuan… Then suddenly, her fiancé’s sister, Wen Jing, violently attacked her.

In this matriarchal society, Rong Xiu had risen to become the chairman of a powerful healthcare conglomerate, breaking through gender prejudices. But for the first time, he willingly stepped into the shadows as the other man, disregarding his friends’ warnings to become her secret lover.

Because he had discovered the truth – Fan Xia wasn’t the pure angel everyone believed her to be. And perhaps, he was the only one capable of helping her execute her mysterious plan…

Intro 2:

Rong Xiu’s biggest regret in life was missing out on Fan Xia.

He secretly loved Fan Xia for 7 years.

Watched her go public with her boyfriend.

Watched her kiss her boyfriend at their wedding.

Until that man blissfully nestled in Fan Xia’s arms, obtaining everything he could only dream of.

The crazy jealousy stripped away his hidden secret love, layer by layer, burning like wildfire.

Fan Xia, how can I have you!
