Tae In was not disheveled like she had been at the villa. She was neat, like a doll showered with love.
Upon spotting Nok Hyun, Tae In shook her head and rubbed her eyes, then stared at Nok Hyun again.
“…Is that you, Kang Nok Hyun?”
Her trembling voice contained a mix of emotions.
“Yeah, it’s Kang Nok Hyun.”
Tae In immediately embraced Nok Hyun.
The sweet body scent that made him want to gulp it down filled his nose.
Tae In, who had let go of him, cradled Nok Hyun’s face with her hands, examining it closely.
Tears filled Tae In’s eyes as if she was about to cry at any moment.
“Why is your face so beaten up, it’s distressing.”
“…..”
Tae In, looking exhausted and unable to eat, was worried about Nok Hyun.
“Do you know how worried I’ve been? Why can’t you speak? I’m not a murderer. My wife is alive. Why can’t you say that?”
Tae In said with a tearful face.
Nok Hyun just stared at Tae In like that. Tae In was the one in danger, yet she was the one worrying about him.
“Anyway, you look like you’ve been dumped in the water.”
“Who are you saying looks like they’ve been dumped in the water?”
“Who is it? It’s Kang Nok Hyun.”
Nok Hyun wiped away the moisture at the corner of Tae In’s eyes and chuckled softly.
“You’re the same as always.”
As Nok Hyun stroked her hair, Tae In giggled, pulling out a candy from the inner pocket of Nok Hyun’s jacket and put it in her mouth.
The lollipop, which was the same color as Tae In’s lips, melted in her mouth.
“You still have that bad habit.”
“I surprisingly missed it.”
Tae In, who had been rolling the candy around her mouth for a while, said.
“Just the candy?”
“Of course not…”
Before Tae In could finish her sentence, Nok Hyun devoured her red lips.
The candy Tae In had been holding dropped and rolled on the floor.
As if trying to suck out all the sweetness, he invaded her mouth in a flash, making a mess of it.
Startled by the sudden kiss, Tae In lost her balance. Just before Tae In fell onto the bed, Nok Hyun wrapped his hand around the back of her head.
Nok Hyun collided their lips deeper.
Tae In’s lips were sweeter than the candy and at the same time, Nok Hyun was scared.
He felt like he might get addicted. No, he might have already been addicted.
Tae In was the first to pull away her lips and gently pushed Nok Hyun’s chest.
“What if someone comes in?”
Looking at Tae In’s lips, swelled with his marks, he desperately wanted to attach his lips to hers again, but Tae In blocked him with her whole body.
“No one will come.”
Asserted Nok Hyun, Tae In pouted her lower lip.
She seemed like the owner rather than a guest anywhere, making him wonder if this attitude was innate.
“Why are you here?”
“I came to pick you up. Let’s go home.”
At Nok Hyun’s words, Tae In scratched her head as if in trouble.
“I can’t go yet.”
Surprisingly firm, Nok Hyun tilted his head.
“Why?”
“I want to find my memories here.”
“…You can take your time to find your memories, by my side.”
Tae In smiled faintly and lowered her head.
“I think I’m pushing away difficult memories without realizing it because it’s too good to be with you, because I’m happy.”
“….”
“I want to find my memories as soon as possible and proudly stand by Kang Nok Hyun’s side.”
Nok Hyun was at a loss for words.
This was not what he wanted.
The plan had always been perfect, progressing smoothly without a single error.
Everyone moved as expected, like chess pieces, and he had thought Tae In would be the same.
Nok Hyun pondered over why the plan went wrong, watching Tae In who was smiling and telling him to trust only her.
Tae In was stronger than expected, he was arrogant, and he realized he liked Tae In more than he thought.
Se Ji was in the office until late.
“So it’s true that she lost her memory.”
Se Ji, taking off her earphones, shook her head from side to side.
Before Tae In came home, Se Ji had planted a listening device under Tae In’s bed.
As a result, she could find out two facts.
“One was that Tae In had truly lost her memory, and the other was that Woo Je Ha had already met Tae In in Gapyeong.”
In fact, Se Ji had thought that Tae In was acting. She had always been distrustful of people, but she was even more distrustful of Tae In.
It was because she had been tricked by Tae In more than once.
Se Ji had trapped Tae In several times. While pretending to be tricked, Tae In had been preparing for a counterattack, and those counterattacks were always successful, inflicting critical damage on Se Ji.
Se Ji had ground her teeth until they nearly shattered.
And why did Je Ha hide the fact that he had met Tae In?
Ah, it seemed she understood.
Je Ha was like a bat. If there was a situation that seemed beneficial, he would switch sides at any time.
Se Ji picked up the phone and called for security.
Soon the guard arrived. Se Ji, along with the security guard, headed for Je Ha’s office.
Turning on the lights in the pitchblack office, Se Ji searched thoroughly through the cabinets and desk. Her eyes caught a firmly locked drawer.
“Open it.”
Se Ji commanded the guard.
The guard hesitated, which irritated Se Ji.
“There are important documents needed for tomorrow’s contract in there. It doesn’t matter if you break it, just open it.”
At Se Ji’s words, the guard took a tool from his toolbox.
In the meantime, Se Ji sorted out her thoughts.
It was unfortunate that Tae In was alive, but it was a relief in the midst of misfortune that she had lost her memory.
Since she had lost her memory, she would not be involved in work for a while, and there would be no risk of her taking Se Ji’s position.
However, the problem was that she didn’t know when she would recover her memory.
“It’s open, Vice President.”
Se Ji rummaged through the torn drawer. Inside it, there was a paternity test result. Se Ji sneered when she saw the words “mismatch”.
Je Ha had found Seo Tae In in Gapyeong and had conducted a paternity test with Jung Gyu to verify if it was the real Seo Tae In.
Just then, Je Ha arrived.
He could have been taken aback by the state of his office, but Je Ha merely shrugged his shoulders.
“What’s going on here? No, why did you hide this?”
“I needed to be sure.”
Se Ji furrowed her brows as she watched Je Ha, who was not flustered and spat out a prepared answer.
“So, are you sure now?”
“Seo Tae In is a fake. After the real Seo Tae In died, Nok Hyun put a standin in place.”
Je Ha was wrong.
Seo Tae In was not a standin. She had just lost her memory.
And Se Ji had already known that Tae In was not Jung Gyu’s child.
After all, Jung Gyu was the one who wanted to get rid of Tae In more than Se Ji.
“I’ll take this.”
“By all means.”
Se Ji took the paternity test results and left Je Ha’s office.

When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
