It was already the third day since Ki Yeon started acting strangely. Yu In let out a deep sigh after reading and rereading the message he’d sent her.

[Let me know once you’re back home after class.]

Ki Yeon had changed. At first glance, he seemed the same as always, but something really was different. He kept calling her whenever he had free time, and his messages were just as frequent as before—yet something felt off.

A few days ago, when Ki Yeon had suddenly come to pick her up at school, his demeanor had seemed strangely off, though she’d assumed it was nothing serious. After all, there hadn’t been any issues between them up until then.

For the past two years, Yu In and Ki Yeon had dated without a single hitch—smoothly, peacefully, without even the typical couple’s quarrels or conflicts.

Perhaps that was why even this tiny change felt enormous to Yu In.

“Oh, sorry! Am I a bit late?”

Yu In sprang up from where she’d been slumped over the table, staring at her phone, and greeted the person who’d just entered the room with a warm smile.

“You’re here?”

“Yeah! Sit, sit. It’s so good seeing you after so long!”

Sang Cheol chuckled heartily as he took off his suit jacket and hung it on the chair beside him.

Sang Cheol and Yu In’s secret meetings had been carefully ongoing for over a year now. Though she’d initially found his unsolicited messages a little burdensome—despite personally thinking he seemed like a good man—his straightforward, unpretentious attitude and simple request to “take good care of my son” had gradually won her over.

After meeting once, then twice for tea or meals, they’d naturally grown closer—entirely separate from Ki Yeon.

It was their little secret, unknown even to Ki Yeon, who detested his father’s eccentricities.
