The weather forecast is a game of probabilities.

Like an odd-or-even bet, it’s a problem you can never always get right—but May’s weather, which was supposed to usher in summer, kept writhing with swings from hot to cold and sudden bursts of rain, making it even harder to predict.

Because of this, Yu In had recently developed a new habit: the moment she woke up each morning, she would check the air and the state of the sky.

Seeing ominous clouds spread widely across the heavens, she bet her odds on rain today.

Yet by afternoon, no rain had fallen, and it looked like she was destined to lose this round of the probability game.

“You’re finishing at four today?”

“Yes.”

“Then I’ll come pick you up right when you’re done.”

“Huh? All of a sudden?”

On her way to the library during the gap before her next class, Yu In’s hand dangled with the umbrella she’d brought out that morning.

Ki Yeon, who somehow already knew every detail of Yu In’s class schedule, wasn’t satisfied with just calling her as her personal “free-period notifier”—he’d even gone so far as to declare outright that he’d come pick her up.

“It’s going to rain by the time your class ends. I have to make sure Nam Yu In doesn’t get wet.”

“I brought an umbrella today, so you really don’t need to come.”

“I’ll be your umbrella, so put that one away and use me instead.”

A single, stunned “Eh—” slipped from her lips, mirroring her dazed mind.
