Their lunch ended quickly. Yuin had shown little interest in food from the start, but Giyeon too had lost his appetite somewhere along the way. A waiter came by to clear away their nearly untouched steaks and asked if they would like dessert. Giyeon raised his eyebrows at Yuin, who timidly asked in a small voice if they had ice cream.
“Do you like it that much?” Giyeon asked, slightly tilted his chin, watching Yuin continuously scoop up the cold chunks into her mouth.
Yuin, spoon in lips, nodded. Giyeon let out an amused chuckle. She wouldn’t touch the expensive steak, but now she was smiling happily over ice cream. Why did he find it so endearing?
Soon after, Yuin quietly set down her spoon.
“I’m done.”
“It’s the first time I’ve seen Yuin finish a plate,” Giyeon teased, glancing at the empty bowl.
“Let’s get going.”
Giyeon swiftly stood up, slinging his jacket over his arm. As he paid, Yuin followed slowly, awkwardly clinging to his back.
She remained close, hiding behind his broad shoulders even as they passed the smiling staff.
“What are you doing?” Giyeon asked, smirking like a mother duck followed by her duckling.

“The staff kept staring too intensely, at both you and me.”
“Did they?”
Yuin’s voice was low, and Giyeon noticed a flicker of discomfort cross her face. He didn’t usually notice others unless necessary, but sensitive Yuin seemed to be bothered.
“Hm. Maybe I should have a word with them.”
Yuin quickly grabbed his shirt sleeve in panic.
“No, no need! We won’t be coming back here anyway.”
“Even if we do? You might come here often with me. Are you sure it’s okay?”
Yuin’s large, moist eyes looked up at him and said,
“You never assume that I might dislike you, Director.”
“Right. I don’t.”

“Maybe you should.”
“Why should I? You’re not going to reject me, right?”
As Giyeon grinned cheekily, Yuin turned her head, her expression a mix of displeasure and reluctance.
“Like that expression? Dull and gloomy.”
“Stop it.”
“Don’t like my answer?”
Yuin glared, her round eyes fierce yet lacking any threat. Giyeon, amused by this harmless show of defiance, laughed heartily for the first time in a while.
Just then, the elevator doors opened with a refreshing chime. Inside, they found other passengers, so Giyeon lightly embraced Yuin’s lower back, moving aside to let them exit first.
“Oh, who’s this? Director Do!”
Giyeon, smiling down at Yuin, lifted his head. His brows narrowed ever so slightly at the sight of the caller but soon relaxed.

He gently pushed Yuin behind him and, with a mask-like smile, greeted,
“President Jung, long time no see.”
“Why is it so hard to get in touch with you? I’ve called several times.”
“Ah, I heard, but I’ve been so busy lately, I forgot.”
Giyeon smiled politely, the perfect image of a young, successful businessman.
The recently wealthy President Jung, having profited from a semiconductor deal, was with a woman noticeably younger than the one he’d been with last time.
Giyeon, with a dismissive flick of his tongue, briefly met President Jung’s gaze. The woman entwined around Jung’s arm blushed shyly at his cold look. Sensing this, the portly Jung pulled her closer with a jerk and said,
“You must be really busy these days, not even seen at the bar? Every time I go, I ask about you. ‘Has Director Do been here?’ Haha! But… who’s that behind you? Someone new you’re seeing?”
His bulging eyes searched for Yuin, whom Giyeon had hidden behind himself. Giyeon’s smile turned frigid.
“No, she’s someone important, not appropriate to discuss here… You understand what I mean, right, President Jung?”
Luckily, Jung got the hint, his bewildered face uttering an ‘Oh’ before he boisterously brushed it off.

“Hahaha! I see, I see. You must be busy, Director Do. Shouldn’t you be going?”
“Yes, we’ll see you another time. Enjoy your day with your partner.”
Giyeon, with a curt nod and a perfunctory smile, quickly pressed the elevator button and hurried Yuin inside. He blocked her view until the elevator doors shut perfectly, ensuring she wouldn’t see Jung again.
Once alone, Giyeon’s first action was to check on Yuin.
“Yuin.”
Her delicate features, hidden behind his large back the entire time, looked at him motionlessly, like a wax figure.
The atmosphere around her was unusual. Giyeon, sticking close, leaned in and called again in a lower voice.
“Yuin?”
“Who’s the important person?” she asked in a thin voice.
Giyeon straightened up and laughed lightly.

“You, Yuin. You’re the important person.”
“Me?”
“You don’t need to be upset by what I say. It’s just people who are better off not knowing about you. Were you bothered?”
“No, why would I be?”
Her voice trailed off feebly.
Giyeon noted her tense shoulders and nervously bitten lips, signs she was hiding something.
“What’s bothering you?”
“Was it President Jung’s words?”
He tapped her shoulder as he had done before, but unlike earlier, she remained still without protesting.
What could she be pondering so deeply? Giyeon narrowed his eyes and cleared his throat.

Soon, she spoke in a hard voice.
Male lead Asks for a Divorce Every Day
It’s not often you come across a plot like this in the female-dominant genre — make sure to check it out!
This is a novel I’m planning to reread as well.
The male lead is strong, skilled in martial arts, and not the usual fragile type you often see in matriarchal novels.
Meanwhile, the female lead is a scientist—rational and logical. Even when she falls for the male lead, she doesn’t let her emotions cloud her decisions.
If you push through the first few chapters, you’ll gradually find the story really intriguing.
It has a mix of mystery, detective elements, and romance.
The author’s writing style is like crafting a puzzle—except they deliberately leave out a few pieces, making it hard to predict what happens next, yet keeping you hooked.
In the end, everything will come together and be explained.
One-sentence summary: Wife, stop playing with beakers and look at me!
In a laboratory accident, research scientist Zhu Wansheng accidentally travels to a matriarchal world. The original owner of the body is an eighteen-year-old only daughter of a wealthy rouge merchant, already married with a handsome young man.
Zhu Wansheng grins: Nice! She always said she was heaven’s favorite granddaughter. After a life of toil in her previous life, she can enjoy blessings in this one.
However, her joy lasts no more than three seconds as bad news arrives: the original owner’s family is about to go bankrupt, and her husband wants a divorce.
Even worse, she’s stuck with a research system full of restrictions.
Zhu Wansheng: ? Is this the destiny of a research dog?
——
Faced with this mess, Zhu Wansheng pours herself a bowl of wine to drown her sorrows. In her drunken haze, her husband arrives.
His figure is imposing, holding a long sword, with a dignified air that captivates Zhu Wansheng.
Gu Yingqing, however, looks at the alcohol-reeking Zhu Wansheng with undisguised disgust and coldly asks, “Divorce or not?” The intoxicated Zhu Wansheng mumbles vaguely, “I think… it’s not… it’s not… impossible!”
——
The next day, after sobering up, Zhu Wansheng is full of energy, rolling up her sleeves ready to make a big move. As for yesterday? She has no memory of it.
Zhu Wansheng is ambitious; a research dog fears nothing!
Upgrading rouge, extracting fragrances, producing perfumes, researching lipsticks… all shall bow to the power of modern technology!
The original owner’s dying rouge shop is revitalized. Her mother is pleased and with a wave of her hand, passes on the family business to her. As she takes control and her experimental results gain popularity, it’s the pinnacle of her life…
——
But there are always those who can’t stand to see her doing well. Jealousy, scheming, assassination attempts – they want nothing less than her life.
The person who has always kept his distance from her suddenly holds her tightly in his arms, eyes full of concern.
She is unharmed, but he falls into a pool of blood…
Zhu Wansheng feels guilty, “I can grant you one wish.”
Gu Yingqing tentatively circles his arms around her, carefully resting his head in the crook of her neck, pleading softly, “I regret it. Can we not divorce?”
Zhu Wansheng: ? When did I agree to a divorce?
[Small Theater]
The newly developed rouge is beautifully packaged, and Zhu Wansheng is eager to try it.
Gu Yingqing suddenly appears: “My lady, may I apply it for you?”
Cool fingertips lightly brush her lips. His Adam’s apple bobs as he leans in for a light bite.
Zhu Wansheng: ?
Gu Yingqing: It smells so good, I wanted to taste it…
On a warm spring day, Zhu Wansheng tries a new perfume: “Spring Night.” Gu Yingqing corners her against a wall.
Warm breath lingers on her neck.
“My lady, from now on, may I test the fragrances for you?”
