-What’s up, Nam Yoo In? What’s going on? Why are you crying?
“Unnie. Are you busy right now?”
-Put aside the private chat; why are you suddenly crying?
“Can you come right now?”
Haah. Yoo In, who expelled a frustrating breath, poured out urgent words.
-Whether you tell me what’s going on or not, you should. What’s up? Are you alone?
“No. Unnie, for now… Can you come, and we talk?”
-Ha.
Yoo In seemed to want to ask more, but she ended the call with the words to leave her location.
Sending the approximate location to her sister, Yoo In placed the device she was holding on the ground and huddled between her knees again.

Receiving steady mental counseling since the age of 16 and having recently quit medication, she took pride in her regular care, even attending counseling diligently.
Moreover, since meeting Kiyeon, she had hoped to become even better and happier than she was now.
Not hiding like this in such a pathetic state.
“Heuk….”
Why am I always like this? What does being Nam Yoo Jin’s sister mean, and why does one word make me like this?
It’s foolish and unfair. I hate the one who effortlessly destroyed everything I’ve kept up until now.
I despise the weak me who still can’t escape from that nightmare.
“……Heeup.”
Droplets of tears fell like raindrops, delicately staining the dry ground. She couldn’t stop the emotional dam from bursting, pierced by the blame’s sharp knives that dug into her heart.
Pushed away by reality, forgetting the passage of time, she silently wept, hidden where others’ footsteps wouldn’t reach.

“……Nam Yoo In.”
Suddenly, a rough breath mixed with a deep and muffled tone reached her ears.
Yoo In slowly opened her heavily closed eyes and gently raised her head.
First, she saw the impeccably clean shoes. Then, the view moved past the neatly creased pants and suit jacket tails, reaching the tightly fitted vest and tie.
“Why are you crying?”
It was Kiyeon.
Surprised by his appearance, Yoo In couldn’t say anything as she pursed her lips. Gazing at her with eyes that crinkled at the corners, he stood still, looking down at the crouched Yoo In.
Then, after exhaling a regretful sigh, he took off his suit jacket and draped it over Yoo In’s shoulders, bending one knee to meet her eyes.
“Get up. Let’s go.”
“Why are you here? And Unnie, what about her?”

“Nam Yoo Jin isn’t coming. Just come with me.”
With his dark pupils sinking, Kiyeon stared at Yoo In with a distorted gaze.
Reaching out, he wiped the dampness from Yoo In’s cheek and sighed deeply, a mix of cold air in his breath.
“Why didn’t you contact me?”
“…….”
“No calls. How much I wandered around this neighborhood…”
He struggled. Mumbling softly, Kiyeon, in a hurry, brushed aside the messy strands of hair with an uneasy gesture.
“Let’s hear the explanation later. Not like this here. Can you get up?”
The comforting gesture of his hand on her jacket-covered shoulder seemed like soothing a crying child.
Afraid of revealing my flaws and wanting to avoid the topic that brought me here in the first place, I couldn’t deny the turbulent relief that surged when I faced the man who had rushed through everything for me.
Perhaps, he knew about this lacking and unsightly side of me and hoped to understand and embrace it. To find me. Even if I pushed him away, he came closer like this.

How selfish.
“…….”
As Yoo In tried to stand, lowering her face still damp with the residue of defeat, Kiyeon wrapped his arms around her waist and helped her to stand.
“Wait a moment.”
The man, who uttered a brief statement, adjusted the jacket he had put over Yoo In and took out his phone, making a call somewhere.
“Where is the car? Yes. Found it. Withdraw with Cheolsu. Where?”
The man, gripping Yoo In’s hand tightly, continued to move forward while maintaining the call. Led by him to a major road, a sedan she had never seen before smoothly stopped in front of them after a short while.
The person who came out directly from the front passenger seat made a simple bow towards Yoo In. Before she could feign recognition, the backseat opened.
“Get in.”
Hesitating at Kiyeon’s firm suggestion, Yoo In climbed into the sedan first. As soon as Kiyeon took his seat, the car door closed with a thud.

After Jinseok also got into the front passenger seat, the sedan, now smoothly moving, had a stranger who seemed to be another secretary driving.
Naturally, the car was dominated by a silent stillness.
Yoo In, only nibbling on her lips, pondered why it was Kiyeon who came to find her instead of her sister, and how to explain this complex situation to him. However, Jinsuk, sitting in the front, broke the silence before she could feign recognition.
“Director. Where should we take you?”
Leaning against the window frame, Kiyeon responded emotionlessly.
“Home.”
“What about the remaining schedule for today?”
“Postpone everything. Don’t say it’s not possible.”
“The chairman has plans for the evening…”
“Cancel that too.”

His tone was more resolute than just now. Kiyeon, who breathed an irritated sigh, added immediately.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
