In the beautiful March, as flowers bloomed and new shoots sprang up, Yuin faced the start of her last year as a student, a year that seemed it would never come. Before she could even get wrapped up in the gloom of her upcoming graduation, she was startled by shocking news. Her close friend, Han Jae-hee, was planning to celebrate her 23rd birthday at a club.
Yuin, her face crumpled in displeasure at her friend’s apparent joy, sharply said, “I’m definitely not going.”
“What are you talking about? Have you forgotten we’re practically one and the same?”
“I hate it. What would I do there? I don’t like alcohol or noise.”
“When will you stop living like a princess in a dark cave? It’s time to break free!”
“Princess? Anyway, I’m not going!”
The moment Yuin refused, Jae-hee’s determination ignited fiercely.
Relentlessly employing every method and strategy to bother Yuin at every turn, she couldn’t outlast the persistence and stubbornness of her friend. Eventually, Yuin surrendered.
“Now, promise me. No backtracking, okay?”
“Ugh, fine, I agree.”

Jae-hee, happier than anyone else, insisted Yuin had to come, extending her pinky. Yuin, utterly exasperated, hooked her finger with Jae-hee’s, resigning herself to whatever would be.
Just a short visit, what could go wrong? she thought naively.
But Yuin should have realized then it was a terrible mistake.
People shouldn’t do things they’ve never done before.
[Star icon]Saturday evening, the bustling downtown area was noisy, busy, and complex.
Yuin, uncomfortable in her short, clingy dress, kept pulling it down, but it remained short. Jae-hee, who had stormed into Yuin’s house from morning and dressed her up like a doll, seemed incredibly happy, humming a tune as they walked.
Defeated again by her friend’s stubbornness, Yuin sighed and followed her tall, fast-walking friend.
Finally, at the entrance of the club. Yuin, glaring at the crowded mass of people, had Jae-hee sling an arm around her shoulder and say,
“Ready, Nam Yuin?”
“Ah, I don’t know. Let’s just go in.”

“Ready? Okay!”
Pushed by Jae-hee’s energy, Yuin entered the club and found it exactly as she expected.
Suffocating air. Music so loud it made her head pound. People already drunkenly swaying, even though it was early.
Yuin occasionally drank with friends but had no interest in nightlife and disliked crowds. For her, such a place was the worst.
“Ugh.”
Groaning involuntarily, Yuin clung to Jae-hee’s back.
Jae-hee, with Yuin clinging to her back like a koala, confidently opened a door halfway down the second-floor corridor.
Inside, friends were waiting, setting off fireworks and champagne, singing a birthday song at the top of their lungs for Jae-hee.
“Happy birthday~ to Han Jae-hee~.”
“Congratulations, Han Jae-hee!”

“Happy birthday, Jae-hee!”
“Jae-hee, total birthday cheers!”
The celebration and gift ceremony seemed endless.
Yuin, barely managing to escape the tightly packed crowd, leaned against a table, already exhausted despite having just arrived.
This was not her place, she thought, as she tried to quench her thirst with a pink drink from a crystal glass on the table.
“Hey, isn’t that Nam Yuin?”
“Yeah, I’ve never seen her dressed up like that.”
“Right? But I’ve always felt she looks a lot like Nam Yujin.”
“Oh? That’s true. How come I never noticed?”
Even in the noisy room, Yuin distinctly heard the conversation and had to swallow the drink without tasting it.

The comparison to Nam Yujin.
To others, it was just a casual comment, but it deeply disturbed Yuin. Her aversion to makeup and dressing up was undoubtedly due to the constant tag of resembling Nam Yujin.
In the lovely month of March, with flowers blooming and new shoots emerging, Yuin was starting her final year as a student. Before she could even immerse herself in the somberness of her impending graduation, she was startled by a shocking piece of news. Her best friend Han Jae-hee was planning her 23rd birthday party at a club.
Frowning in displeasure at her friend’s evident joy, Yuin sharply said, “I’m definitely not going.”
“What are you talking about? Have you forgotten we’re practically inseparable?”
“I don’t like it. Why would I go there? I don’t like alcohol or loud places.”
“When will you stop living like a princess trapped in a dark cave? It’s time to break free!”
“A princess? Anyway, I’m not going!”
The moment Yuin refused, Jae-hee’s determination flared up fiercely.
Relentlessly using every method and tactic to incessantly bother Yuin, her persistence and stubbornness eventually wore Yuin down, forcing her to surrender.
“Promise me, okay? No changing your mind later.”

“Ugh… fine, I agree.”
Yuin, tired and defeated, linked pinkies with Jae-hee, who was happier than anyone else, with a ‘let whatever happens, happen’ attitude.
But Yuin should have known at that moment that it was a terribly wrong choice.
People shouldn’t do things they’ve never done before.

When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
