Lily’s head tilted in confusion as she unintentionally overheard their conversation.

Who shouldn’t find out what, and what must be absolutely prevented? And who is that woman?

“So… Whoa!”

“…!”

The aide, startled upon locking eyes with her, let out a sharp cry, causing Lily to jump back in surprise as well.

“Why so suddenly… my lady?”

Frederick, noticing Lily a moment later, hesitated and then asked with a stiff expression.

“How long have you been standing there?”

“I just arrived.”

Upon hearing Lily’s reply, Frederick glanced sideways at the maid standing behind her. When the maid nodded, confirming the truth, his expression finally relaxed in relief.

“You appeared so suddenly without a sound—I was startled.”

“I didn’t want to interrupt what seemed like an important conversation between you and the aide… I didn’t expect you’d be this shocked. I’m sorry.”

“It’s alright.”

Frederick smiled genuinely, offering his arm. Lily placed her hand atop it and followed her husband, mulling over the snippet of conversation she’d just overheard.

Judging by Frederick and the aide’s reactions, the “woman” they’d mentioned was likely herself.
