“Eric, what does this mean?”

Late at night, close to midnight, Herald suddenly showed up without notice and asked a question as unexpected as his visit. Eric, puzzled, checked the note he handed over. The note had crooked letters written on it, like a young child just learning to write.

“What is this? Ah, could it be a code left by the Salaman tribe?”

Herald chuckled as if he found it amusing and replied.

“If this were a code left by the Salaman tribe, I would have asked a code decryption expert, not you who retired a long time ago.”

“Then this is…?”

“It’s written in Garta language.”

This is Garta language? Even more unbelievable, Eric frowned and closely examined the letters written on the paper. But no matter how much he looked, he couldn’t figure out what it meant. Judging from the spaces in between, it didn’t seem to be a word, but it was too short to be a sentence.

“You don’t know what it means?”

“The Garta language is originally hard to read, and with such messy handwriting, it’s difficult to decipher. This isn’t a scribble by a three-year-old…”

At the blunt criticism, Herald’s eyebrows slanted. Dillon, who was quietly guarding behind him like a shadow, couldn’t hold back his laughter either.

“Stop talking nonsense and figure out what it means.”

“I’d like to, but the Commander’s handwriting… Ah, perhaps.”

As if remembering something, Eric brought over a pen and paper, scribbled on it, and showed it to Herald.

“The letters you saw, these are correct, right?”

Herald recalled the letters written on the paper that Lily hurriedly hid and checked the paper Eric was holding.

Dillon also approached to compare the letters Eric wrote with the ones Herald wrote and clicked his tongue. Both looked more like drawings of crawling earthworms than letters. No matter how much they looked, they couldn’t decipher it.

“I think it’s correct.”

“I thought so.”

Eric smiled proudly and wrote the meaning underneath the Garta letters he wrote, using the Empire’s script.

[Herald Braden.]

“This is the Commander’s full name written in Garta,” Eric kindly explained.

At that, Herald’s eyes widened for a moment. It was a rare sight, and Eric and Dillon were puzzled as to why writing his full name in Garta was so surprising.

The eyes that had widened like a bowl soon returned to normal and curved prettily like a crescent moon. Herald covered his mouth with a lightly clenched fist and lowered his head. The corners of his mouth that he couldn’t hide kept rising, not knowing the height of the sky.

“Yes, you wrote my name…”

Even the mumbling voice was full of laughter. Eric, who was surprised at first and now seeing Herald laughing so much that his shoulders were shaking, just found it strange and looked at Dillon. He thought Dillon would know the reason since he had been with Herald all along, but even he had a dumbfounded expression as if he knew nothing.

Regardless, Herald kept laughing while looking at the note Eric wrote for him.

Since there was no way his name would be included in a contract sent to the 2nd Prince of the Herta Kingdom or his aides, this must have been written by Lily herself.

Was that why she was so embarrassed?

Herald’s dimples deepened at the corners of his mouth as he finally understood Lily’s behavior. Just the fact that Lily had her own thoughts made his heart flutter as if he were walking on clouds.

But then he wanted to know what the words written after that meant.

To figure that out, he would either have to take the paper without Lily knowing or ask her directly. Both methods were unusable, so Herald was very regretful and stared at his name written in Garta for a long time.

“It’s finally over!”

Lily stretched her arms high into the sky and let out a small cheer. It took longer than she thought because there were many unfamiliar terms, but she finished it earlier than the deadline Count Stacy gave.

I need to quickly give the translated version to the Count and receive the compensation.

As the saying goes, strike while the iron is hot. Lily immediately sent a letter to Count Stacy asking when she could visit since the translation was finished.

And while waiting for a reply, she checked the translated version overall. It would be a big deal if there were any mistranslated parts. While thoroughly checking from beginning to end, Harry, who had gone to deliver the letter to Count Stacy, returned with a reply.

The reply contained admiration and praise for finishing the translation so quickly, and schedule guidance that she could visit tomorrow morning. Lily was about to neatly fold the checked reply and put it down on the dressing table when she noticed something written on the back of the stationery and paused.

[How about you come back home now?]

“……”

The neat and tidy handwriting was familiar. Of course it was. This was Fredrick Benjamin’s handwriting.

Strength entered the hand gripping the stationery. Lily glared at the question Fredrick threw at her while biting her lip so hard it might bleed.

If it had been the handwriting of the Count or someone else, it wouldn’t have been this disconcerting.

“When you delivered the letter to Count Stacy, was my husband there too?”

“No. The Count was alone.”

“Is that so?”

Then how was Fredrick able to write a word on the Count’s letter?

Lily was curious but didn’t want to know. Just thinking of the man named Fredrick Benjamin was annoying and insulting.

After sending Harry out, Lily unfolded the crumpled stationery and carefully checked the back. Just in case that jerk wrote something else.

Fortunately or unfortunately, that was it. Lily read out loud the question Fredrick posed.

“How about coming back home now… Ha.”

It was so absurd that a short laugh burst out before she could finish reading the short sentence. Lily crumpled the stationery in her hand and looked at the mirror. In the clean mirror, a phantom of Fredrick Benjamin appeared.

“…What are you thinking?”

Lily poured out questions as if Fredrick was really in front of her.

“Do you really want me to come back? Why? Because you can only maintain your noble status with me by your side?”

That was probably it. No matter how capable and wealthy, there were clear limits with commoner status. Even if it was a nominal noble title, one needed it to climb higher.

So Fredrick would never try to divorce Lily.

“But I will divorce you.”

More strength entered the hand gripping the stationery. Lily looked at the phantom of Fredrick Benjamin smirking despicably and spoke clearly.

“I won’t be swayed by you anymore.”

That evening.

“I’m planning to go to Count Stacy’s tomorrow morning.”

In the middle of having dinner, Dillon was slightly taken aback by the sudden remark and looked at Lily.

“Judging from your surprise, it seems you haven’t heard anything from the Count.”

“What…?”

“I received a translation request from Count Stacy.”

Since he hadn’t heard of such a thing, Dillon responded with silence. Lily continued.

“The requested work is finished, so I need to deliver it to the Count. I also need to get a new job.”

“……”

Dillon was curious about what kind of translation work Count Stacy requested from Lily, but he was more curious about why Lily was telling him all this. From what he observed, Lily didn’t really like sharing her personal stories with others. She also didn’t like Dillon tagging along, claiming to be her escort.

Ah, could it be that she’s trying to ask me not to follow her this time too?

“So, I was wondering if you could accompany me to Count Stacy’s tomorrow.”

“……”

At the request that differed from his expectations, Dillon stared at Lily. Lily, misinterpreting his gaze, asked worriedly.

“Do you have another schedule tomorrow?”

“……”

“Sir Lamperd?”

“…What is the reason?”

At the returned question, Lily blinked her eyes widely.

“You found it bothersome when I tagged along, so why are you suddenly asking me to go together?”

“Ah.”

With a short exclamation, an embarrassed smile spread across her pale face. Lily, looking like she was contemplating what to say as she rolled her eyes, looked at him again and parted her lips.

“Because it might be dangerous.”

“Dangerous, you say?”

“Yes. It seems Fredrick Benjamin told Count Stacy about what happened between me and the Count.”

The smile disappeared from her lips, and the ends stiffened. Lily tightly clenched her hands placed neatly on her lap and continued.

“That jerk wouldn’t have told the Count for no reason. He must have some ulterior motive, so I want Sir Lamperd to come with me.”

Dillon didn’t know what ulterior motive Fredrick Benjamin had for telling Count Stacy, but even if that wasn’t the case, the Count would have found out about their affair. The rumors had spread throughout the Empire.

Of course, Lily didn’t know that fact, so she was thinking like this, but it felt a bit naive and Dillon inwardly chuckled. And her appearance, speaking seriously while being very tense, was also funny.

“If that’s the reason, it seems safer not to go at all.”

While inwardly ridiculing Lily, Dillon didn’t show it outwardly.

“You can send the finished translated work through someone else.”

“That won’t do. The Count strongly insisted from the beginning that I must bring it in person due to concerns about it being lost in the middle.”

“Is that so.”

He also had a strong feeling that it was a trap, but Dillon didn’t reveal it this time either.

“I understand. As it is also my job to protect my lady, I will accompany you tomorrow.”

“Thank you. And I have one more favor to ask.”

“Please speak.”

Lily hesitated for a moment and carefully continued.

“About Fredrick Benjamin telling Count Stacy everything… I hope you won’t report it to the Commander.”

Dillon was about to answer that he would do so since it was an unnecessary thing to report anyway, but suddenly he thought of a good idea and paused.

The Commander said he doesn’t have to stop Lady Benjamin’s outings anymore…

The deliberation wasn’t long. Since resolving this would hasten the time to return to Cardin, Dillon asked Lily.

“Then may I also ask a favor of my lady?”

My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband

This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.

The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.

They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.

In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.

When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.

She makes his life a living hell.

And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.

Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!

Intro

Dong Xia lost her memory.

Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”

Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.

…

The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.

She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.

Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.

No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!

Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂

*

Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.

The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.

In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.

The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.

And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.

Notes:

1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.

2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.
