Following Geum Mo Ran’s sentence to actual imprisonment, her closest aide—the secretary—and the Chief Prosecutor were also consecutively found guilty. The convicted Chief Prosecutor not only lost his position as chief but also his status as a prosecutor altogether.

Consequently, Prosecutor Yoon Nan Seul’s position became considerably unstable. This situation, ironically, could even be viewed as an achievement for the two prosecutors.

Though the departure of one cunning Chief Prosecutor wouldn’t instantly usher in better days, Ra In’s life at the prosecution office grew even more difficult.

The newly appointed Chief Prosecutor was a classmate of the former one. The unwritten rule—”once targeted, you’re finished”—applied just as strongly to the new Chief Prosecutor.

Moreover, he especially despised those who treated the organization lightly or acted arrogantly. Naturally, he held no favorable view of Ra In.

Song Kang pretended to know nothing about any of this. He figured Ra In must have had her reasons for not mentioning it herself. Since it was already decided and unavoidable, Song Kang secretly hoped to use this situation as an opportunity.

He knew she avoided spending time with children—but perhaps, if she did interact with them, her heart might begin to change.

Ra In had ended up doing her community service at the one place she truly, truly wanted to avoid. Since it wasn’t a voluntary assignment, she couldn’t argue or complain about it.

Standing before Taesung Orphanage, Ra In let out a long, weary sigh and stared blankly at the building. The children’s pure, cheerful voices made her feel dizzy.

Oddly fearless Ra In feared nothing more than being around young children. It was a grim, unchangeable truth that caring for them had nothing to do with her knowledge or abilities.
