Ra In stayed put near the courthouse where his first trial was being held, without even stepping foot inside. It was her way of respecting each other’s pride.

Yet, as expected, she wasn’t granted the luxury of idle contemplation. The prosecution had unexpectedly shown unusual diligence regarding Ra In’s reinstatement lawsuit.

She hadn’t entirely ruled out a last-minute retaliatory offensive, but witness statements from committee members who had served on the original disciplinary panel began pouring in.

Though the content was lengthy, it essentially argued that the disciplinary action had been justified given the circumstances at the time.

Ra In focused on the phrase “given the circumstances at the time” and launched her defense. Even seemingly straightforward points demanded extensive case law research and scrutiny for legal soundness, causing time to slip away unnoticed.

Ra In stretched her arms and looked up at the clock.

She was curious about how he was doing, but since reaching out first would be meaningless, she simply stared at her phone. Just then, it rang. Ra In quickly answered.

“Hello?”

Ra In felt embarrassed, wondering if she’d picked up too hastily.

“I thought it was Attorney Cha Hae In calling, so I answered quickly out of curiosity.”

Although she knew it was a pointless remark, she jabbed back with those words anyway. An icy silence drifted through the phone line.

—Are you in your office now? I’ll wrap things up quickly with Attorney Cha Hae In and head over.

He had called first because he assumed Ra In would be waiting.

Not long after the call ended, Song Kang arrived at Ra In’s office.
