My Line (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 42

Song Kang, as usual, dropped Ra In off right in front of her apartment.

“Be careful going upstairs.”

Ra In nodded and got out of the car. Secretly, Song Kang had hoped she’d invite him in, but she headed straight inside without even looking back—apparently in quite a hurry.

“Her phone…”

He spotted the phone she’d left behind. As he reached to pick it up, the screen lit up with an incoming notification: “Our Senior Joo Hyuk.”

Even though it was on silent mode, the alert felt jarringly intrusive. Nerves on edge, Song Kang stepped out of the car.

A text message followed immediately after.

Jin Ra In, did you file the witness application? I’m already at your place. I’ll go in ahead of you.

At your place? Going in ahead?

He couldn’t understand why she’d set up pop-up notifications if she wasn’t even bothering to lock her phone properly. He almost wished he hadn’t seen it at all.

Since he’d accidentally read the message without her permission, he decided to pretend he hadn’t seen anything.

What good was an emergency call shortcut if she kept leaving her phone behind like this…?

He briefly considered returning it to her, but his greater urge was to stop her from walking straight into the apartment where Prosecutor Choi Joo Hyuk had apparently arrived first—so he hurried his steps.

He saw the elevator heading toward Ra In’s floor, confirming she’d just barely beaten him into it.

It wasn’t a particularly high floor, and he’d been about to take the stairs instead—when the adjacent elevator arrived at the first floor.
