As usual, Song Kang escorted Lain to her doorstep.
“Be careful going up.”
Lain nodded and got out of the car. Song Kang secretly hoped that she would invite him into her house, but she headed straight for her home without looking back. Whatever kept her so busy, she didn’t glance behind.
“Phone…”
In the spot where she had left, her phone was visible. Song Kang picked up the phone. As he was about to get out of the car, the name ‘Our Senior Juhyuk’ came to mind, and the screen lit up.
Despite being on silent mode, it was very attention-grabbing. Song Kang, feeling uneasy, stepped out of the car.
A text message followed.
Jin Lain, did you apply as a witness? It’s your place. I’ll go in first.
Home? Already inside?
He couldn’t understand why he would set up messages like this in a pop-up. It was better not to see the contents; it was something he unexpectedly saw without her permission.

Though he wanted to hand over the phone, he hurried his steps because he wanted to prevent Lain from entering that house where Senior Juhyuk would go first.
Seeing the elevator heading to the floor where Lain’s apartment was, it seemed like she had entered the elevator just before him.
It wasn’t a high floor, so Song Kang debated whether to take the stairs. Coincidentally, the elevator next to him arrived at the first floor.
Song Kang entered the elevator and frantically pressed the button. As soon as the elevator doors opened, a scream brushed past his ears.
“No! Senior! Ah…! What is this!”
Sounds, the nature of which he couldn’t identify, echoed in the corridor. The problem was that the voice belonged to her.
Song Kang instinctively ran toward the direction of the sound. He then opened the half-open door of her apartment.
Song Kang was startled at the situation that unfolded before his eyes. Kneeling beside a person who was bleeding and collapsed, Lain was fumbling around. She was desperately searching for her phone in her pocket.
“What do I do…! My phone… I don’t have my phone!”
No matter how much she searched, it wouldn’t be there…

“Jin Lain, Inspector.”
Song Kang called out to her, but she couldn’t hear him, lost in confusion. Lain took out the phone from Juhyuk’s pocket and tried to unlock it by holding his hand.
However, due to the bloodstains, the fingerprint lock showed no signs of being unlocked.
Following her movements, Song Kang’s body trembled. Seeing her, who was usually fearless, unable to pull herself together and bewildered, he felt strangely uncomfortable.
“Is it the same as before, Senior’s pattern?”
Lain unlocked his phone with a familiarity that seemed as if she had done it before.
“Please send an ambulance here. Someone has been stabbed and collapsed.”
Before she even finished, Song Kang called 119.
“I made the call.”
Lain turned around at the sound.

“Senior…”
“First, let’s move inside.”
“No!”
Lain jumped and stood close to Juhyuk, pressing her head against his abdomen with her hands.
“No, you can’t. You shouldn’t move him recklessly. And there might be traces inside. It’s better to leave the crime scene as it is. We must catch the culprit.”
Lain picked up Juhyuk’s phone, called the nearest police station, and switched to speakerphone while pressing his wound with both hands.
“Chief, it’s Jin Lain. We need to check the CCTV around 598 Seoul National University. His height is… his height…”
Lain recalled the appearance of the guy who jumped off the veranda.
“He was about 175cm tall, with a build similar to yours, Chief. Also… everything from the hat to the clothes and shoes was black. Black-framed glasses too. It hasn’t been long since he fled. Please hurry!”
Even in the midst of such a chaotic call, Lain’s hands continued to press Juhyuk’s abdomen tightly.
“Lain… Stop. Let go of my hand…”

Juhyuk tried to put his hand on the back of Lain’s hand but circled around it after seeing the bloodstains.
Despite the urgent situation, his desperate voice and gestures created a solemn atmosphere for Song Kang.
“Don’t… It’s okay…”
“I know. Don’t say it. Don’t say anything.”
The ambulance siren outside loudly resonated.
“We’re almost there. Just a bit more…! Breathe… breathe! Senior!”
His eyelids, which he had said were okay, began to droop gradually. Lain’s hands started to tremble.
Song Kang realized that relying only on Lain’s strength might not be enough, so he tried to persuade Lain to move away. However, Lain, frightened, couldn’t let go of Juhyuk.
“No! No! You can’t fall asleep!”
Lain began to apply pressure to the center of Juhyuk’s chest. With her strength drained, Lain leaned over his upper body to perform artificial respiration.

Unable to watch any longer, Song Kang suddenly took off his outer coat, draped it over Lain’s shoulders, and leaned over to start chest compressions. With much greater strength than Lain, Juhyuk’s breathing began to return. Lain, even in that gap, continued to press on the wound.
“Here!”
Male lead Asks for a Divorce Every Day
It’s not often you come across a plot like this in the female-dominant genre — make sure to check it out!
This is a novel I’m planning to reread as well.
The male lead is strong, skilled in martial arts, and not the usual fragile type you often see in matriarchal novels.
Meanwhile, the female lead is a scientist—rational and logical. Even when she falls for the male lead, she doesn’t let her emotions cloud her decisions.
If you push through the first few chapters, you’ll gradually find the story really intriguing.
It has a mix of mystery, detective elements, and romance.
The author’s writing style is like crafting a puzzle—except they deliberately leave out a few pieces, making it hard to predict what happens next, yet keeping you hooked.
In the end, everything will come together and be explained.
One-sentence summary: Wife, stop playing with beakers and look at me!
In a laboratory accident, research scientist Zhu Wansheng accidentally travels to a matriarchal world. The original owner of the body is an eighteen-year-old only daughter of a wealthy rouge merchant, already married with a handsome young man.
Zhu Wansheng grins: Nice! She always said she was heaven’s favorite granddaughter. After a life of toil in her previous life, she can enjoy blessings in this one.
However, her joy lasts no more than three seconds as bad news arrives: the original owner’s family is about to go bankrupt, and her husband wants a divorce.
Even worse, she’s stuck with a research system full of restrictions.
Zhu Wansheng: ? Is this the destiny of a research dog?
——
Faced with this mess, Zhu Wansheng pours herself a bowl of wine to drown her sorrows. In her drunken haze, her husband arrives.
His figure is imposing, holding a long sword, with a dignified air that captivates Zhu Wansheng.
Gu Yingqing, however, looks at the alcohol-reeking Zhu Wansheng with undisguised disgust and coldly asks, “Divorce or not?” The intoxicated Zhu Wansheng mumbles vaguely, “I think… it’s not… it’s not… impossible!”
——
The next day, after sobering up, Zhu Wansheng is full of energy, rolling up her sleeves ready to make a big move. As for yesterday? She has no memory of it.
Zhu Wansheng is ambitious; a research dog fears nothing!
Upgrading rouge, extracting fragrances, producing perfumes, researching lipsticks… all shall bow to the power of modern technology!
The original owner’s dying rouge shop is revitalized. Her mother is pleased and with a wave of her hand, passes on the family business to her. As she takes control and her experimental results gain popularity, it’s the pinnacle of her life…
——
But there are always those who can’t stand to see her doing well. Jealousy, scheming, assassination attempts – they want nothing less than her life.
The person who has always kept his distance from her suddenly holds her tightly in his arms, eyes full of concern.
She is unharmed, but he falls into a pool of blood…
Zhu Wansheng feels guilty, “I can grant you one wish.”
Gu Yingqing tentatively circles his arms around her, carefully resting his head in the crook of her neck, pleading softly, “I regret it. Can we not divorce?”
Zhu Wansheng: ? When did I agree to a divorce?

The newly developed rouge is beautifully packaged, and Zhu Wansheng is eager to try it.
Gu Yingqing suddenly appears: “My lady, may I apply it for you?”
Cool fingertips lightly brush her lips. His Adam’s apple bobs as he leans in for a light bite.
Zhu Wansheng: ?
Gu Yingqing: It smells so good, I wanted to taste it…
On a warm spring day, Zhu Wansheng tries a new perfume: “Spring Night.” Gu Yingqing corners her against a wall.
Warm breath lingers on her neck.
“My lady, from now on, may I test the fragrances for you?”
