“Prosecutor Jin Line seemed to have finished her meal a while ago. Let’s finish up here. I’ll give you a ride. I’ll drive.”
“It’s okay. I’ll take a taxi.”
Line declined his favor, thinking that if she took Song Kang’s car, it would lead to various inquiries. Red marks, like lipstick smudges, spread on Line’s forehead and beside Haein’s forehead. Seeing that, Song Kang was on the verge of going crazy, but he clenched his teeth inwardly.
“Taxis don’t come here.”
“Then, can Lawyer Cha Haein escort me to where I can catch a taxi?”
Haein sensed Na Song Kang’s intention. Although he had offered to escort her first, he judged that it would not be polite to move after hearing Line’s words.
“Senior, it would be better for you to take Director’s car. It’s my first time here, and the roads are narrow, so I’m not sure I can guarantee safe driving at night.”
Line rejected Song Kang’s offer of a ride, and they set off on the way back. Riding in Song Kang’s car, she realized once again that Cha Haein, Lawyer, was someone related to Na Song Kang, the Director.
Even though Line wasn’t someone who cared about others’ opinions, the seat felt like a bed of thorns. She had planned to ride in Cha Haein, Lawyer’s car precisely because of this…
It wasn’t because she was scared. Line couldn’t define the difficult emotion that came to her on her own, but… It was a fact that she was concerned about Na Song Kang. The two people in the car remained silent for a while.

“Why are you acting like this today? You did well in the challenging trial and came back.”
“What did I do?”
Line still hadn’t decided what attitude to take, so she pretended not to know and turned her head discreetly out of the window.
Yet, Line felt too awkward herself and squeezed her own head in frustration. What to do in such a situation… It was difficult and complicated.
Song Kang parked the car on the side of the road. It was a desolate place with no people coming and going, and no passing cars. Line looked at Song Kang.
It wasn’t that he parked the car abruptly, but Line felt tense. She didn’t need to ask why he stopped; she knew the reason.
After looking at her, he loosened his tie and unbuttoned one of the shirt buttons, revealing a double eyelid that had formed in one eye.
“Is this really necessary?”
He asked with a voice thicker than at the villa, and Line’s pupils lowered.
“Do you really not know why I’m like this? If I have any responsibility for my emotions, as Jin Line, shouldn’t I try to resolve them somehow?”
He asked her seriously. Line, not knowing what to do, stammered before looking at him. Expressing her feelings and understanding the other person’s feelings were more challenging for her than the judicial exam.

“How am I supposed to resolve Director’s emotions?”
“You might not know. Then let me teach you.”
Song Kang said as he pressed the button of the seatbelt clip that restrained Line’s body. As soon as he finished speaking, he swiftly pulled her towards him.
“Oh!”
Line’s gaze quickly rose above Song Kang. Startled, she put her hands over her mouth, and Song Kang grabbed her hands.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
