My Husband's Scandal (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 3
Yoon’s footsteps as she entered the hotel restaurant were extremely urgent. As soon as she was guided to the room, she flung the door open without even knocking and went inside.
Inside the room, Kim Seo Jung, dressed elegantly, was sitting with an aloof air.
“You’re late.”
“Please solve the house problem for us.”
Yoon opened her mouth urgently without even sitting down.
“It depends on what you do.”
Yesterday was the day Yoon’s family was supposed to move. They packed their things early in the morning and arrived at the new house, but when they tried to open the front door, it wouldn’t open.
They had clearly stopped by the day before and even cleaned, so there was no reason for the password to have been changed overnight. Wondering what was going on, they called the landlord. But all they heard was a message saying the number was disconnected.
A chill ran down their spine. After running around asking here and there, they found out there was a different landlord. In short, they had been scammed out of their jeonse deposit. Ho Sik and Ok Soon collapsed right there on the spot.
The paperwork was so perfect that even licensed real estate agents clicked their tongues, saying anyone would have fallen for it.
They had thought they signed the contract through a real estate agency, but the scammer had lured Ho Sik by saying they could save on the agency fee, leaving them with no way to get compensation.
Now Yoon’s family was about to end up on the street. For the time being, their belongings were left in a truck borrowed from a hardware store, and the two elders were placed in a nearby inn.
They did report it to the police, but it felt hopeless to think they could ever catch the scammer.
While running around desperately again today, Yoon received a call from Kim Seo Jung’s secretary, who only told her the location before hanging up.
“Where is that scammer?”
“What are you talking about?”
“Why on earth are you doing this to us?”
Yoon’s body shook with rage.
“Get married.”
“I… I’m going to report this to the police.”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about. What did I even do for you to come here and accuse me? To the person who’s trying to help you.”
Seo Jung feigned innocence.
“Ha…”
That money—what kind of money was it? To them it was pocket change, but it was money Ho Sik, who worked as an apartment security guard, and Ok Soon, who cleaned buildings, had painstakingly saved.
It was money they had scrimped and saved for nearly two years, barely eating or spending, just so their granddaughter wouldn’t look pathetic in front of her boyfriend.
“Is marriage all I have to do?”
Looking at Seo Jung’s cold, ruthless face that would even resort to this, Yoon asked in despair.
Seo Jung then shoved a photo toward Yoon.
“Now we’re finally communicating. As I said last time, it’s Cha Yu Hyun, executive director of Woosung Construction. The house problem will be solved immediately.”
“Why are you doing this to me now? Didn’t we cut ties?”
Ten years ago, on that dawn, Yoon had rushed straight to Haesu City and collapsed in front of Ho Sik and Ok Soon.
All the tension had suddenly released. She was hospitalized immediately and diagnosed with malnutrition.
Seeing their granddaughter, whom they hadn’t seen in two years, return looking like she hadn’t even had porridge, Ho Sik and Ok Soon were utterly shocked. They had sent her to a rich family, only for her to come back in a state of starvation.
A while later, Seo Ji Man’s aide visited the hospital. Over the phone handed to her by the aide, Ji Man had said this:
‘You left on your own. Even if you come back, I won’t take you. I’m abandoning you. So from now on, we’re strangers.’
Hearing those words, Yoon was so overwhelmed with gratitude that she bowed deeply while holding the phone and said:
‘Thank you so much. For abandoning me.’
Remembering what happened ten years ago, Yoon shuddered once more.
“You’re still on the family register, aren’t you?”
Seo Jung said coldly.
“You said back then that we were strangers now.”
“Why do you think the congressman put you on the family register? Even though you were young, it was because your face was at least half-decent. He knew you’d be useful someday like this.”
“What did you say?”
Yoon glared at her over the sarcastic remark.
“It’s a marriage to the crown prince of Woosung Construction, so be grateful and accept it. Do you think someone like you deserves this?”
“If it’s such a great match, Yoo Jin can do it.”
At Yoon’s words, Seo Jung exploded.
“Are you crazy?! Why would our Yoo Jin…!”
Then, worried Yoon might change her mind, Seo Jung let her words trail off.
As expected, Yoon thought. If she couldn’t send her own daughter, it meant it wasn’t a good place.

But she had no choice even knowing that. If she refused again, this woman would scheme something even worse than the jeonse scam.
“Be quiet. Next Saturday at 3 p.m., just meet at this place.”
“Then please solve the house problem first.”
Yoon continued, trying to calm her boiling anger.
“I’m helping you because you seem to be in trouble.”
Seo Jung answered shamelessly.
“Secretary Joo, transfer the money.”
With that, Seo Jung got up without hesitation, as if she had nothing more to say. Once Seo Jung left, Yoon opened her phone and checked the deposited amount.
The full amount lost to the jeonse scam had been returned. It was a hollow moment. They had deliberately set the trap and waited.
‘Ha…’
The realization that with money and power, they could toy with the powerless however they wanted left her feeling utterly empty.
‘Marriage, of all things. Cha Yu Hyun…’
If it was Cha Yu Hyun, he was Kang Hyun’s older brother. Hit by this bolt from the blue, Yoon sat alone in the empty room, staring blankly ahead.
The most important matter of marriage had been decided completely without her consent.
Yoon stood up weakly. Running around in anxiety yesterday and today had drained all her energy. But she couldn’t just slump like this.
‘I need to find a house quickly.’
Ho Sik and Ok Soon were probably crying in their inn room right now.
‘Sigh…’
Yoon’s heart ached, feeling she had stubbornly held on and only made things harder for them.
Over the weekend, Yoon pounded the pavement and barely managed to secure a multi-family house on jeonse.
“I should just die.”
Ho Sik pounded his chest hard.
“Stop it. It hurts.”
Yoon quickly grabbed Ho Sik’s hand. She couldn’t bring herself to tell them that all of this was Kim Seo Jung’s doing. If they knew, they really might clutch the back of their necks and collapse.
“Still, it seems he listened because I’m the father.”
Ok Soon sighed. To the two of them, Yoon had said she went to Ji Man, pleaded their situation, and received help.
“He just gave it without saying anything?”
Ok Soon asked weakly.
“He… he told me to get married.”
“What?”
Ho Sik, who had been beating his chest in guilt, looked at Yoon in shock.
“He said it’s time to get married.”
“Then what about Young Hoon?”
“Actually, sunbae and I… we broke up a while ago.”
Yoon answered feebly.
“No…”
Ho Sik and Ok Soon were so shocked they could only gape.
“No wonder he stopped calling and didn’t even show his face when we said we were moving… That jerk found another woman, didn’t he?”
Ok Soon grabbed Yoon, trembling as she asked.
“No, it just happened that way.”
Ok Soon stroked Yoon’s face, now half its usual size after only a few days, swallowing her tears. There was no way Yoon had been the one to end it.
‘Oh no…’
Seeing Yoon’s sunken eyes from running around frantically trying to clean up the mess only broke their hearts more.
“What is he scheming? That… that Seo… Seo Ji Man bastard?”
Ho Sik stammered, nauseated even to say Seo Ji Man’s three syllables. Seo Ji Man had made his daughter an unwed mother and nearly devoured his granddaughter too.
“He said marriages should stay within the family…”
“That family has another daughter.”
“I think she’s already engaged.”
Yoon quickly made something up.
“That man can’t be trusted. He almost starved my daughter to death. We’d be better off returning the money. He took this money planning to sell you off somewhere strange again.”

Ho Sik’s voice shook.
“It’s not somewhere strange—it’s the son of Woosung Construction.”
Yoon hurriedly added to reassure Ho Sik and Ok Soon.
“Good grief, Woosung Construction or whatever, it’s all my fault.”
Ho Sik felt everything was his fault. If he hadn’t sent young Yoon to that man, she wouldn’t have suffered so much, and she wouldn’t be forced into marriage like this now.
Ho Sik pounded his chest again and only sighed. Ok Soon simply wiped away tears. Watching them, Yoon’s heart felt suffocated.
Kang Hyun visited Chairman Cha’s mansion in Hannam-dong because it was the 8th anniversary of his mother Song Gi Sun’s death.
But an utterly unwelcome person was there—Hyun Seung, the son of Chae Min Suk.
“Why is that thing here?”
“Kang Hyun.”
Yoo Hyun physically blocked Kang Hyun as he approached Hyun Seung. Though much smaller in build, the only person who could stop Kang Hyun was Yoo Hyun.
“Shouldn’t Hyun Seung now attend family matters too?”
Chairman Cha spoke as he came down the stairs.
“I don’t care if he attends other family matters or not, but not on Mom’s death anniversary. If Father has any conscience, that is.”
Kang Hyun glared at Chairman Cha as he spoke.
“That… that bastard.”
“Get out right now before I drag you out.”
Kang Hyun spat coldly at Hyun Seung.
“It looks like you’re planning to worm your way in bit by bit. Go tell your mom to wake up from her dream!”
At Kang Hyun’s menacing expression, Yoo Hyun sighed and approached Hyun Seung.
“Hyun Seung, not today. Go home for now.”
“Yes, hyung-nim.”
At Yoo Hyun’s words, Hyun Seung politely bowed to Chairman Cha and Yoo Hyun before quietly leaving. In front of Chairman Cha and Yoo Hyun, Hyun Seung always acted like an obedient lamb.
Suddenly Kang Hyun remembered how, before going abroad to study, Hyun Seung had screamed at him.
‘Just wait. I’ll take everything your brother has. I’ll make your idiot brother end up just like your mom soon…’
Of course, he got beaten up by Kang Hyun before he could finish. But even while being hit, the lunatic kept running his mouth.
If Yoo Hyun hadn’t rushed over after hearing Hyun Seung’s screams and stopped it, who knows what would have happened.
“Why are you here today of all days?”
Chairman Cha looked at Kang Hyun disapprovingly.
“It’s my mother’s memorial, of course I’d come. But seeing this today, it seems I’ll have to show up for other things too. With the owner away, the thieves are starting to poke their heads in.”
“Thieves?! Hyun Seung is your younger brother. Accept it already!”
Chairman Cha roared.
“Even if he’s Father’s son, he’s not my brother. Don’t expect it.”
“That… tsk.”
“The family elders will arrive soon, so Kang Hyun, that’s enough. Father, please go inside.”
Chairman Cha, who had been glaring at Kang Hyun, clicked his tongue and went into the study. Only Yoo Hyun could cut short such sharp father-son exchanges.
Yoo Hyun felt uncomfortable watching the confrontation between his father and Kang Hyun. He felt the family was noisy because he wasn’t properly fulfilling his role as the eldest.
Knowing Chairman Cha had once considered Kang Hyun as successor, Yoo Hyun also believed Kang Hyun was more suitable than himself, so he was always ready to gladly yield his position to Kang Hyun.
But Kang Hyun, having sensed it early, left to become a celebrity—an interest he never even had—just to avoid taking his brother’s place.
Yet now he had stepped up, saying he would marry in his brother’s stead.
“Why are you volunteering to get married? What about your acting career?”
Yoo Hyun looked at Kang Hyun with pity.
“It doesn’t matter.”
Kang Hyun had been planning to retire from entertainment soon anyway. Now that he had escaped Chairman Cha’s shadow, there was no need to continue an acting career that didn’t even suit him as a hobby.
“Sigh, you don’t have to do this because of me.”
Yoo Hyun sighed as he spoke.
“I can just divorce when the time is right.”
Kang Hyun had never intended to marry in the first place. Growing up watching his parents’ unhappy and horrific marriage, he had become utterly disillusioned with the idea.
So stepping in for his brother and getting a divorce label was something he could easily do.
“What?”

“Do you think I’m crazy enough to live forever with a woman whose background I don’t even know?”
“Sigh, it’s because your hyung is useless.”
Yoo Hyun sighed again.
“I told you not to say that. That’s exactly what Chae Min Suk wants.”
“So if you come into the company and help…”
“I’m already busy with my own business. Woosung is yours, hyung-nim. So you take responsibility.”
Kang Hyun grabbed his brother’s frail, shrinking shoulders. He didn’t think Yoo Hyun was as weak as people said.
He was someone who had endured beatings until his back bled yet still protected his younger brother to the end. That made him fully capable of running a company.
He was qualitatively different from the thugs who played dirty tricks in business.
“Hyung-nim, you can do well.”
Kang Hyun gently stroked his brother’s scarred, dry, and frail back with warmth.
