The image of Yoon driving off in a luxury foreign car wouldn’t leave her mind. The fact that Yoon was driving a car that Shin Joo herself hadn’t even been able to ride hurt her pride so much that she was losing sleep over it.
“I told you I was too busy to help. See you tomorrow.”
Yoon tidied her chair and picked up her bag. At that moment, Yoon’s bag caught Shin Joo’s eye. Up close, her bag was definitely genuine. It seemed certain that she had a really wealthy boyfriend.
Shin Joo was extremely annoyed with Yoon. It wasn’t just because she was Yeong Hoon’s exgirlfriend. Shin Joo simply disliked Yoon from the start.
It was absurd that everyone adored Yoon, a contract teacher who was nothing special. To top it all off, Yoon was now dressing up, and people were saying ridiculous things like calling her a goddess.
“Teacher Seo!”
Shin Joo shouted suddenly, and Yoon, who was turning to leave her desk, looked back at Shin Joo, who was calling her. Shin Joo’s face was distorted, she was clearly furious.
Yoon looked at Shin Joo and couldn’t understand why she was behaving this way. She had clearly said that she was too busy to help.
All teachers have their own work to do, and they were each doing their own tasks. Sometimes they could help, but they couldn’t always be someone’s assistant.
“You should have said no from the start. You helped out fine during the first semester.”

“Teacher Min, I can help once or twice when I’m not busy, but I can’t always assist you. And I was busy today. That’s why I clearly told you I couldn’t help.”
Yoon spoke quietly but firmly.
“Is this because of Yeong Hoon? Are you doing this because he was taken from you?”
Shin Joo spat out her words like a missile. At Shin Joo’s unexpected retort, Yoon quickly looked around.
Luckily, it was just the two of them nearby. She couldn’t believe how tactless some people could be.
“Look here, Teacher Seo, Yeong Hoon didn’t get stolen by me. Yeong Hoon chose me.”
Shin Joo said, glaring at Yoon’s bag.
“Teacher Min.”
When Yoon calmly called Shin Joo, Shin Joo’s square eyes turned toward her. Occasionally, there were people like Shin Joo who exploited the kindness of others.
Regrettably, it wasn’t easy to identify such people from the start. Hence, problems like this always arose.

“I admit it was my mistake not to refuse from the beginning. However, the rest of the reasons are incorrect. I hope there will be no misunderstandings.”
“Ha! Is that so? You’re saying you should’ve refused to help from the very beginning, huh? Got it. I will absolutely never ask anything from Teacher Seo from now on. I’m incredibly sorry for forcing you to do things you didn’t want to do.”
Shin Joo, with no hint of an apologetic expression, snapped back at Yoon and turned abruptly to leave. Yoon was speechless, and for a moment, she just stared blankly at Shin Joo’s retreating figure.
‘What a strange person.’
Yoon shook her head as she walked down the corridor.
“Yeong Hoon, why haven’t you been going on dates with Teacher Min lately? Did you two have a fight?”
Yeong Hoon, who was lying on his bed, grimaced as his mother, Seon Hwa, entered the room. Every time he saw her lately, she kept pressing him about when he was going to marry Shin Joo.
“Shin Joo is supervising study hall tonight.”
“I see. So, have you thought about it? You should start considering marriage. It’s been several months since you started dating.”
“I still need a bit of time… Shin Joo is still a bit young…”

Yeong Hoon hesitated, looking uncomfortable.
“What’s so difficult about being twentyseven?”
“Twentyseven these days is not the same as before.”
“Oh dear, you, age aside, I think Teacher Min is also quietly hoping for you to propose soon. It’s not good to keep a woman waiting too long.”
Frustrated with Yeong Hoon’s response, Seon Hwa slapped her son’s back.
“……”
“What’s the matter?”
Thinking that Yeong Hoon’s expression looked dark, Seon Hwa came over and sat on his bed.
“Yoon…”
“What? Why is she coming up in this conversation?”

“She’s kindhearted. She’s good enough…”
Yeong Hoon, who had been watching Yoon from a distance again that day, was tormented by the realization that he had hurt her.
She was shining brightly since he let her go. He even thought that maybe, as Shin Joo said, she was taken by some rich guy.
On one hand, he felt guilty, wondering if he had ruined Yoon. He worried that she was meeting anyone just because she was too distressed about being rejected by him.
“That kid, really! Is she still bothering you?”
“No.”
“I knew it would be like this. Kids who have nothing always do that. They don’t know their place. That’s why you shouldn’t have brought her to that school. If Teacher Min misunderstands, what are you planning to do? This won’t do. I need to meet her once and settle this.”
As Seon Hwa got angry, Yeong Hoon grabbed her arm.
“Mom, I told you, it’s not like that.”
“People are the scariest after all. What if she spreads rumors at school out of spite?”

“Yoon is not that kind of person.”
“What do you know? You’re such an innocent one! This won’t do. Because of her, it might be better to hurry up and get married. That’s the only way those kids will certainly back off. Who dares to covet our house beyond their means? Is it tolerable?”
“It’s not like that.”
“You’re the problem because you’re too naive. You’re too kind.”
Seon Hwa, who had been looking at Yeong Hoon, clicked her tongue. Yeong Hoon could only lick his lips and couldn’t say anything else.
‘Yoon isn’t interested in me.’
Lately, Yoon felt different from the person he knew. One might say that she had an aura of nobility.
He felt like she was someone he couldn’t dare look up to. It was hard to believe that she was his girlfriend.
‘But who the hell is that guy?’
A guy driving an expensive car that not only he but also most people wouldn’t dare to think of.

‘Isn’t he a strange guy?’
Yeong Hoon started to worry about Yoon.
“Hey, get your act together!”
Just then, Seon Hwa, who was leaving the room, came back and slapped Yeong Hoon’s back.

When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
