“Grandmother.”
“My baby is here. You said you would be free in a few days. Good to see you.”
As soon as Yoon opened the front door and entered, Ok Soon greeted her warmly, wiping her hands with a towel.
“Is grandfather on the night shift this week?”
Yoon, glad to see Ok Soon after a few days, quickly approached and hugged her.
“Yes.”
Ok Soon patted Yoon’s back.
“You must be tired.”
“It’s not like I’m doing it for one or two days, it’s fine. Go wash your hands and sit down. I boiled some noodles. I timed it to be ready when you arrived, and you came right on time.”
Ok Soon went to the kitchen with a hearty laugh.

“I’ll get the side dishes out.”
“Just sit.”
“I’ll do it.”
Yoon wrung out the kitchen towel tightly, wiped the table, took out the side dish container from the refrigerator, and served it on a plate.
“I just got home a little while ago and didn’t have time to prepare anything besides the noodles. I should have made some pancakes at least.”
“Why would you make pancakes in this heat?”
“Still… So, how was the wedding? When will the photos be out? Our Yoon must have looked really beautiful.”
“Thanks to looking like you, grandmother, my looks are good. Everyone said I looked like a celebrity.”
Yoon gave Ok Soon a broad smile, and Ok Soon stroked Yoon’s cheek with a contented smile.
“Even compared to those TV talents, you’re much more beautiful. And with all the makeup, you must have been even more beautiful.”

“I’ll bring the wedding photos when they’re out.”
Yoon sighed secretly. What could be the reason the two of them couldn’t attend the wedding?
No matter how contractual the marriage was, the two didn’t know the fact. It had always bothered her that the two could not attend her wedding.
A few weeks ago, Kim Seo Jung had called her out to buy her clothes.
‘I’m buying this so you don’t disgrace us by wearing rags to your inlaws.’
That’s when Yoon asked Seo Jung about Ok Soon and Ho Sik’s attendance at the wedding.
‘Why call them to brag about anything? It’s disgusting. Aren’t you ashamed?’
‘Stop it.’
Although she had asked just in case, there was no need for Yoon to hear such words from Seo Jung.
Feeling that Ok Soon and Ho Sik would be belittled or insulted if they attended the wedding, Yoon did not bring up the subject any more thereafter.

Yoon, reminded of the unpleasant memories of that day, shook her head to dismiss them.
“We’ve done nothing to help you with your marriage.”
As she rinsed the noodles in cold water, Ok Soon let out a sigh.
“But you raised me so well.”
Yoon said, serving the rinsed noodles into a bowl.
“But in that house, are you only going to live with what you have? Didn’t Representative Seo give you any furniture or anything?”
“Everything is already there at home.”
“I see.”
A while later, Yoon hungrily slurped down the summer radish cold noodles, Ok Soon’s specialty.
“How is it? Tasty?”

“It’s really delicious.”
Yoon, raising even her thumbs, nodded in agreement. Ok Soon, who had directed the fan towards Yoon, only then took a mouthful of noodles.
“What about Cha Seo Bang?”
“He starts filming again the day after tomorrow, so he needs to rest. Oh, I’ll subscribe to an OTT service for you so you can watch his drama while you’re here.”
“Do that. But what’s the plot of the drama?”
“Well, it’s about punishing bad people….”
The two of them spent a good deal of time chatting while eating noodles, their heads close together over the small table. As Yoon softly told her stories, the grandmother couldn’t take her eyes off her lovely granddaughter.
“Oh, I have a gift to show you.”
Yoon untied the gift bundle.
“No, why did you buy so much? How much is all this?”

“I got them cheap. They’re cosmetics and nutritional supplements.”
“Why did you buy cosmetics for me? Your greataunts just recently…”
Ok Soon stopped midsentence, seeming to think better of it.
Yoon didn’t like her greataunts. This was because they were always rude to Ok Soon.
Ok Soon was always submissive to her sistersinlaw, the greataunts, perhaps out of guilt for having only given birth to a daughter, Yoon, and not a son, thus ending the family line.
“Did they give you something you can’t even use again?”
“No… no. They said it’s an expensive one this time.”
With that, Yoon stood up and went into the master bedroom where Ok Soon’s vanity was located.
“They said it’s a famous brand….”
Ok Soon stuttered her words, keeping an eye on Yoon.

However, upon seeing the cosmetics, Yoon instantly frowned. The cosmetics with a knockoff name of a famous company seemed quite old at first glance.
“20XX?”
Sure enough, the expiration date had passed two years ago. Yoon checked several times in disbelief.
It was undoubtedly an expiration date, not a production date.
‘How many years has it been rolling around in that house!’
Not only had the expiration date passed, but it wasn’t even proper cosmetics. Yoon stood up with the cosmetics and threw them straight into the trash bin.
“Why did you do that?”
Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!
The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
