“Don’t just skim it, read it carefully.”
“Yes.”
At that moment, the number 3 written in the contract caught Yoon’s eye.
“Are we divorcing after three years?”
For the first time, color returned to Yoon’s face. It meant that she would be free after enduring for three years.
“Yes, and there will be no division of property.”
“Yes.”
Yoon responded flatly. At this, one of Kang Hyun’s eyebrows raised.
“You’re not unsatisfied?”
“It’s your property, Mr. Cha Kang Hyun.”

As far as she was concerned, she didn’t understand why Kang Hyun, who was asking about his property, had anything to do with her.
“Instead, you’ve agreed to receive something substantial from Councilor Seo?”
“Pardon?”
What could she possibly receive from Councilor Seo? Yoon just wanted to completely break away from them after this marriage.
Anyhow, having written up to the contract, money seemed to be the issue. As for the cost of the wedding, Councilor Seo’s side would take care of it, so she didn’t have to worry about it. But she wondered how she would handle living expenses.
Even though Kang Hyun was rich, he was calculating like that, and she didn’t know if he might demand living expenses.
Yoon was giving half of her current salary to her grandmother. The rest was going to student loan repayment and pocket money, so she didn’t have extra money to cover living expenses.
“Um… When we get married, do we live at your father’s house by any chance?”
Yoon thought that if she were to move into her husband’s parents’ house, it would be uncomfortable, but she wouldn’t have to pay for living expenses, right?
“Why would you move there? Move into my apartment!”

Kang Hyun sharply retorted, wondering if Yoon was angling for something else.
“In that case, how should I handle living expenses?”
Yoon cautiously broached the subject.
“Living expenses?”
Kang Hyun became interested for the first time at Yoon’s offbeat question, which was completely different from his expectation. So Yoon was asking where she would live because of living expenses.
Seeing Kang Hyun’s bewildered reaction, Yoon’s expression slightly crumpled, thinking she might have spoken unnecessarily.
And then, seeing Yoon’s wrinkled expression, Kang Hyun asked with a grin.
“How much can you contribute?”
At Kang Hyun’s question, Yoon’s expression quickly darkened.
“I don’t think I can give much.”

Kang Hyun stared into Yoon’s eyes. Her eyes were not lying. She was genuinely worried about living expenses.
“Wow, living expenses are unexpected. It might be a contractual marriage, but I won’t ask you to pay for living expenses, so don’t worry.”
“Oh….”
Only then did Yoon’s expression brighten slightly. Not having to pay for living expenses and divorcing after three years were not bad conditions for Yoon.
She might be labeled as a divorcee, but she had no plans to get married in the future anyway.
She might regret it if she found someone she truly loved later, but in her current situation, she had no choice but to accept it as she could not escape.
“So, can I leave now?”
Yoon rose from her seat.
“Is your only demand the living expenses?”
“Yes.”

Yoon thought what else could there be besides that. When Yoon handed the contract to Kang Hyun’s lawyer, the lawyer handed her his business card.
“Please send the certificate of seal impression to this address.”
“Yes.”
Taking the business card, Yoon gathered her bag.
“I’ll leave first.”
“Go ahead.”
Kang Hyun, lounging in his chair, kept his gaze fixed on her as he spoke. He had the power to make people shrink, even though he was just looking.
Therefore, Yoon suddenly thought that the roles he had played all this time must have shone even more.
His piercing stare at her overlapped with the eerie image from his recent movie, “The Vampire Doctor.”
In the movie, he had been showing off a maniacal smile throughout, his mouth stained with bright red blood.

His pale face, distinct features, and sharp jawline matched perfectly with the vampire character, making even the most brutal scenes bearable. The movie was more famous for the female audience screaming “Kyah!” instead of shrieking in fear throughout the runtime.
Upon closer observation, his eyes were also bloodshot, just like when he bit into a person’s neck in the movie. Suddenly feeling a chill, Yoon brushed her hand over her neck.
For some reason, Yoon felt as if he had thoroughly sucked her blood.
Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!
The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
