Standing on the deep gray dais accented with blue, Chairwoman Yoon opened her mouth as all eyes in the room turned toward her.

“Our modest Gil Myeong Group has now reached its sixtieth anniversary.”

Her choice to refer to the company’s 60th founding anniversary as a “sixtieth birthday” drew scattered laughter from the crowd. Per Chairwoman Yoon’s wishes, this commemorative party was being held privately, not open to the public.

Of course, there was a separate public event held externally, but this—this was the “real” one.

“Then, since we’ve gone to special lengths, please enjoy yourselves to your heart’s content.”

As Chairwoman Yoon concluded her opening address officially kicking off the party, guests began dispersing toward whichever conversations or acquaintances interested them most.

Given the event’s confidential nature, Chairwoman Yoon had barred journalists from attending. Since many of the invitees held careers that often attracted public attention, the absence of cameras granted them a rare sense of freedom.

Naturally, there were still watchful eyes and loose tongues everywhere, so the atmosphere never became overly relaxed—especially not tonight, when virtually every member of the influential Cha family was gathered in one place.

Hae Yeon watched Chairwoman Yoon receiving greetings from attendees alongside Cha Gi Jung, having just finished her speech. Just then, as Chairwoman Yoon turned toward her after acknowledging someone on her right, their eyes met.
